Right now it looks like a big ole mess, but the "mechanics" say it will be ready to drive on Saturday!! :eek2:

Nope, just a V8! The engine came out of a 69 Fastback Mustang and was putting down roughly 465rwhp last I heard. However, you never know what it will do until you get it dyno'd. :scared:

That was an insane idea, but at least with a V8, it's streetable, instead of melting the car behind you at red lights. :D

you should make the back end a lil wider to hide the slicks a little, i would do everything i could to make it look stock. where those numbers with the stock motor? 325HP is pretty good for a focus, there is a guy somewhere with a 350 in a 1st gen saturn, HP to weight ratio would be insane

The 325/363 numbers were on a built block (Zetec) with forged "everything", turbo, and a 75 shot of n2o.

The Zetec is a great motor....I had a Duratec (the V6) in my Cougar. The block of the Duratec can take a ot of horsepower as well before needing replacement, some of Fords strongest. People with the 6's were getting frusterated because there were so many more mods for the 4......then a bunch of Superchargers came out and people also started figuring out ways to turbo the 6 (which was what mine was getting right before I sold it last minute) and swapping SVT motors from the Contour. There are a lot of turbo 4 cylinders on the Cougar forums! My project car is going to be a Cougar...most likely a 4 banger :thumbs:

:wow: That is one damn powerful 4-cyl. I guess I was a little biased...I've seen too many dynos of Focuses with exhaust, headers, intake, chip, injectors, plugs, intake mani, with only like 187 HP. I think I was talking about it on the DTM forum...and someone said it would probably be mad quick since the car is so light. well let us know how the V8 turns out. gonna be taking Ferraris and Porsches out everywhere. :thumbs:

That's a good question, but unfortunately I'll probably never really know the "real" numbers...mostly because I'm the wife and I don't get to know these things :eek7: The V8 "kit" can be found at www.kugelkomponents.com but that doesn't include the price of the engine, the labor, and all of those little extra things here and there that take forever and nickle and dime ya!

wow, i need to pay more attention, i thought that was a chevy 10 bolt rear at first, took me a second to relize it was an 8.8. dont worry about it holding up, it will. ive seen these rear ends live behind a 10.80, 560ftlb 5.0 mustang. it will hold just fine. which trans are you using? the T-5 would be my guess. what rear end ratio? do you have any of the specs for the 351W? 2.5in with flowmasters should sound pretty healthy, but may kill most of the sleeper approach. it will get annoying having the sound bounce off the pavement and through the car, but some good sound mat always helps, especially since most the interior is gone anyway... just a few questions and opinions, sorry if i stepped on any toes.

I think it should go on a rally. I also know that they will have some great weight ratio on this car. I know that the RS8 ran toe to toe with the Gallardo, and has a 51 to 49 frount rear ratio.

I don't know how much it actually cost. I saved all the receipts, but I am too scared to add them up. Figure about $5,500 for brackets and bolts, add a grand for all the shit you forgot about, plus the cost of the engine/tranny/rear end, you could pull it off for ten grand if you were being careful. There are places to skimp and save a few bucks and there are others that are guaranteed to cost five times as much if you try and take a short cut. I did all the work myself and in hindsight I should have saved a couple of grand I spent on stupid shit and bought a lift first! Labor is what will really kill you on a job like this, but if you do it yourself you can save a bundle. If I had to do it over I could probably do it in 45-50 hours, not beer drinking or sitting around hours, but 45-50 ACTUAL HOURS OF WORK.

I figured it would get old trying to shift consistently with the new setup. It is gonna be 10's or better if I can get it to hook.
Gas mileage...hahahahahaha *gasp* hahahaha... I have no idea since the old torque converter was slipping so badly. I don't have a speedo and no odometer so I never really checked. I got my GPS out (for mileage) and filled up the tank. I should have some numbers within a week or two.
