i raced a ford lightning on the highway last night heading home from Middletown, NY on I-84 heading East. we raced from a 60-70mph roll up till around 130'ish.... damn those things are fast!! the dude was shooting blue flames out his exhaust!!! and the sound... mmm... such a nice sound from a truck. we were dead even (he had a jump start, but wasn't pulling away from me at ALL) up till around 110-120'ish. after that, i started pulling him in then shut down cuz the road gets kinda curvy, and the last thing i need to do is be taking curves at 130+ mph ... soooo fun :D ahh, gotta love the adrenaline rush.
we raced about 4 or 5 times... each time he got a head start, but never pulled anymore on me. i dunno what he had done to it, but damn... i think i want one :dancingco
figured i'd share :D g'night

If I was going to buy any truck, it would be a Ford Lightning. I'm not much of a truck guy.

i think i would take the SRT-10 over a Lightning. i like them both, but i'm more of a dodge guy myself.
what do you have done to your vr-4? there is a guy around here that has one running 11s, he spins all 4 tires into 2nd.
here is a pic of his, looks so hot.

the dodge web site says $45,795.
the ford/SVT site says $33,000.
i would still rather have the SRT-10, looks better IMO and is faster.

I would choose the Ram SRT-10 truck over that. More power....and its a MANUAL transmission. Ford SVT is an automatic.
I would opt for a Joe Gibbs Chevy

I would opt for a Joe Gibbs Chevy
http://www.joegibbsperformance.com/sec.htmlJoe Gibbs Chevy is pretty much just a supercharged 5.3L V8 w/ dual exhaust or if u want a manual tranny its a supercharged 4.8L V8 w/ dual exhaust. Chevy let me down w/ their SS Truck. It should have been a High Output 8.1L V8...not a Escalade edition 6.0L V8.

I would love an SRT-10, but imagine paying for gas, it get 10MPG
The guy that owns the Harley dealership here owns a nice array of vehicles, has a yellow Viper, Red SRT-10, jacked/beefed out silverado with camelion paints or whatever its called. He also owned a red Lightning and a couple msucle cars which he likely still has... anyways. He stomped on it downtown one day inbetween all the buildings and holy hell, every single person on the sidewalks prolly soiled their pants thinking they were getting bombed.
Oh and another lighting experience, I was in my Nissan Pathfinder heading up highway 11 doing 165km/h top out (its geared high) when an F-150 lightning swerves around me and absolutely hauls past me :)

bah... there's a Pro-street drag truck around here. The blower stands up at or above the level of the top. Meaty tires, wheelie bars, chute, etc. And yes, it is streeted. It scared the hell outta me 1 night.

my dad has a '00 lightning that is just bad as anything. it is pushing somewhere around 460hp and 500 lb of torque. everybody says that the supercharger is loud and makes it sound mean. plus, he put 20's on it and a kiiller system in it. im gonna buy him projector headlights for his b-day next month also. and im pushing for him to get a lambo door conversion kit.

bleh. lambo doors would look tacky on a TRUCK. lol sports cars, exotics, show cars, etc... those are ACCEPTABLE, but NOT on a truck dude. lol trucks are bad-ass... not "oooh look at me! i can flap my doors" :p
just a personal thought :)

Yeah, lambo doors are gay on anything other than a lambo, especially on a truck.

SRT-10 = $50,000 dollars
my 2000 Lightning = $20,000 dollars, $30,000 i have to spend from not spending all that money on a truck the size of a boat, easy 10 sec lightning and a hot tub in my room
srt-10s r fast but they r huge and handle like a big ass tuck, come ride in my lightning... it handles and does everything else like a car
it only takes around $1,500 to bring a lightning up to 500 hp
SRT-10 = big ass expensive boat
ive beat an M3 and a and an SRT-4 up till around 115, u cant expect a box, not matter how much hp it has to run very powerful over 120
def lightning all the way

I'll still take the SRT-10 anyday of the week...just b/c it has a 6 speed Hurst Shifter and a 500 watt sound system stock. Somebody forgot to tell Ford that they need to include manual trannys in their SVT vehicles. I may retract my SRT-10 preference if Ford includes a manual tranny in their new Lightning.
