Driver License fees varies on the state. In NC and MD for me to get my license it only cost $10. In MD, you must find a private company and foot the bill for drivers ed. Luckily for me I initially got my license in NC, where the county foots the bill for driver's ed and provides it to everyone at high school for free. I was able to pass the test and not have to sit thru the classroom part of driver's ed. I did have to do the driving part....which was just 2 days of being out on the road.

Not very expensive here at all... I think its very expensive in all of Europe.
If it's your first time getting a license you are required to take a drivers course if you are under the age of 18. If over you don't need the course but it is recomended if you like your insurance low. But yes you look at about $50 after everything without the amount of the course not included.

Oh now I get it :) Drivers Education was free at my high school. Then I paid $40 for the course that makes your insurance cheaper, but just cause I wanted to. I dont even remember how much it was to get my license, very little.

man driver's ed... that was so much fun, i remember hitting speed bumps at like 70, on purpose. :thefinger
Ah Drivers Ed... the chick I was with was so damn nervous. She did maybe 45 on the highway when the speed limit was 65, and she only did that after the instructor told her to speed up from 35. It was pouring when I was on the highway and I was doing 70-75, he told me to slow down. The chick was merging one time and there were those yellow post thing they put up to keep traffic where they want it, she managed to take a few out. One time I hit some crazy ass pot hole and the entire car felt like it jumped off the ground. It was great.

yea driver's ed was like $199 or whatever, then $12 at the dmv. European license test is brutal and expensive!
Drivers Ed is free in NC, if you don't get it done from school then it's like $400. I think it's $15 at the DMV.

Damn, drivers ed here in Indiana is like $400 from the school, more from private businesses! I learned the old-fashioned way, from my dad...

In Norway you have to drive atleast 1 hour with the driving instructor. But that's only if you are really good at driving and know all the rules like, duty to yield right-of-way etc. Most people have between 15 -25 hours with the driving instructor. ( I had 14 hours ). You are also oblidged to drive on a skidpan ( I think that's the right word:D ) where you learn the basics on how to control the car on a slippery surface. You also have to go on a long tour where you drive for atleast 4-5 hours. Then you are obliged to take a theoretical course which you have to pass to be able to move on. When you have passed that course you are ready for the final test.
In the final test you drive around with a driving instructor for about an hour where you have to prove to him that you know all the "driving rules". You also have to prove that you can park the car ( it's true... not everybody can park their car's :D ) and on and on.... And if the driving instructor thought you did a good job. You get ur lisence. If not, you have to wait for about a month atleast before you are allowed to try again.
PS : My english aint that good so I hope you understand what im saying :D

In sask up here, you don't get insurance hikes, because it's provincialized, for each point you have, you pay $50 when you renew, so it's not that bad really...
I'd rather pay $200 at my renewal than pay my $3800 insurance hike on my vehicles :/

Woah!! I failed my first driving test because of some alleged "dangerous manuever" BLAH BLAH BLAH, lol. But you are allowed to take it again a month later. So I did....It's about 5 minutes. And all you have to do is a couple turns on side streets, a parallel park with about enough room for 4 cars, then drive back. And you get your learners permit right there in the front seat of the car, lol. No wonder there are so many bad drivers in America.....but strangly enough, some of the worst are from other countries, lol :)
I pay $94 a month for my Benz with full coverage under my parents name......under my name, I'm in the $7000/year range, with a clean record....just because of where I live.

I dont live in a Ghetto or anything, I'm in Nassau County, actually quite a nice area. I just live in close proximity to the city. Even one zip code further East is cheaper. And yes, the fact that its a $45,000 car has something to do with it. But if I lived in Montana it would at least be affordable!! My town alone has a population of 60,000 people, which has a lot to do with the high rates.

$140 a month?
You're kidding me right?
I pay $987CDN a month on my durango and jeep alone
I pay almost $3,000 a year to insure my 1996 Dodge Neon. It sucks being 19 and having a ticket and an accident on your record. My mom on the other hand, is 48 and has a perfect driving record. She pays $800 a year to insure her 2000 BMW Z3.

to get a drivers license in FL its only $4.99, but wait theres more...
If you order in the next 20 mins you also get.... :spam:
lol. Seriously though, its only like $20.
As far as insurance goes, I have a clean record, and pay just shy of
$300 a month for full coverage. I live in a town of 3,000 people, full
of exotics. So I dont know it that has something to do with it, or because
it says AMG on the trunk.
