STORM [ Metalheadz ] - UK
http://www.districtsoul.com/Audio/bj/storm.jpg
Storm and her late DJ partner Kemistry were introduced to the sound that would become drum and bass in the early 90's and instantly knew that they had to be a part of it. They introduced a young graffiti artist named Goldie to the music, helped him to form METALHEADZ, and worked with him during the label's formative years. They shared residencies with the likes of Fabio, Grooverider, LTJ Bukem and others, and traveled the world as one of the most respected DJ duos. Their 1999 DJ Kicks (K7!) CD was one of the first widely distributed mix CDs from female artists, and they seemed poised to explode worldwide. Tragedy struck April 25 1999. While returning from a performance in the UK they were involved in a car accident that took the life of Kemistry and rocked the drum and bass scene to it's foundations. Since then Storm has taken her act solo and continued to push the sounds of drum and bass as one of the most highly sought after DJs in the world, known for her incredible mixing skills and access to the most sought after dubs, and she remains a highlight of any METALHEADZ event.
FIERCE [ Quarantine | Virus | Prototype ] - UK
DJ Fierce is one of the most outgoing, enthusiastic, and positive people involved in the drum and bass scene. He got his first break when Nico, head huncho of No U-Turn Records, released Fierce’s first single. It was the b-side ‘Crystal’ that did the damage. A week after a few test presses were released Fierce went to ‘Rage Reunion’ to hear two of his favorite DJ’s, Grooverider and Doc Scott, play it. By 1996 Fierce was spending more and more time in the studio and made the seminal ‘Locust’, with Nico and Ed Rush, which went on to be one of the best known d&b tunes ever made. Ever since Fierce started DJ’ing he has been recognized as one of the most energetic and exciting DJ’s drum and bass has produced. When mixing Fierce moves at a pace that has to be seen to been believed, this man is a live-wire behind the decks and is always exciting to watch and listen to. This year sees Fierce looking more focused than ever before and ready to fire on all cylinders.
BOBBY JAE [ District Soul | DCDNB | Upfront ] - DC
Mastering the sultry, sexy sounds of DC drum and bass, Bobby Jae never fails with his impeccable mixing and top notch music selection. With collaborations in the studio and a new CD in the works, Bobby is taking soulful drum and bass to a level of its own. If you haven’t already, make sure to get your copy of Perpetual Motion tonight which was 1 of 7 mixes just recognized in URB magazine’s Mix-It Best of 2003.
DARKENETIKS [ Resident Evol | Techstep Revival Coalition ] - DC
A powerful up & coming force in the dcdnb community, Darkenetiks brings an infectious energy with him when behind the decks. If you've heard him spin before, you know to expect nothing but the best in all things tech. His mixing style is a perfect warm up for what's to come later in the night. The Tech Step Revival won't let you down.
