Yeh it's a bit like that - We like them in Australia because they are easy to mod & we love our V8's - But our monaro's in Australia are better I think.
A few mates are making 1000rwhp with them now (well with the LS1)

ok cunts, back on topic.
The GTO is an ugly POS. The build quality, if it's anything like a Pontiac, sucks balls. The resale value, like with any Pontiac... drops into the negative.
I don't care if it's fast, if it looks like an ass, smells like an ass, tastes like an ass, well it's must be a cunt.
:D
Now the Holden..whatever it's called, the 4 door clubsport that my friend has in Aus., now that is a nice car and I wouldn't mind having one :)

Its a joke, think about it. Gto's are a American Muscle car, yet the new GTO is literally a australian car... Whaat the hell. Dosen't that seem odd to anyone?

GTO is the same as a Morano... But no one listens, so why bother...
Considering the chassis are interchangable...
Pontiac and the rest of the American companies see their sales losing badly to all the Imports and decided the have to step it up. The New GTO if anyone has bothered to test drive one is a very strong car. It also handles quite well. For a bunch of guys that drive SRT4's you should be more forgiving to American muscle. It is making a major comeback. Look at the Ford lineup so many different types of GT's their offereing. THey have 9 sec Escorts and Focuses out there now. One of my guys in the carshow scene his 350z always gets beat by the lambo doored Cavalier for some reason. Plus thanks to APC they have made American tuning a reality. Hell you can buy exhaust for American cars from Greddy now. Example Drift GTO.

Oh don't worry gio, I love the new american muscle. I just happen to be partial to the Chrylser cars for some odd reason. I love the interior of the New GTO.. it's REALLY REALLY nice, totally blows anything that pontiac has done beofre, out of the water. But the exterior styling just doesn't do it for me. I'd MUCH rather get a CTS-V than a GTO, and I don't really like caddys either. The few cars that I can't wait to get my hands on are the new 300C SRT-8 that Chrylser is going to release in February, The Charger SRT-8 that dodge is going to release shortly after the Daytona 500, and of course, my next car, The Magnum RT (dodge will probably make an SRT-8 version, but who knows) which I plan on supercharging. There are a few people that have supercharged their 300C (same engine) and pull more than 420HP out of them.
Just for some BG Info:
Chrylser 300C SRT-8:
6.1Liter 425HP 420trq
Magnum RT:
5.7Liter 340 HP 390trq
Cadillac CTS-V:
5.6Liter 400HP 395trq

Gio, regardless, the point I made is still true. The GTO is a fantastic car yes, but I do not think it should be the GTO all the same. It is a australian car, and should not represent the american muscle car if it isnt even american.

I've seen a them around. Yes its big and bulky, but it's decently fast, and it falls right in line with midpriced American performance cars. Don't get me wrong, I would trade my SLK in a hot minute for a Vette or an S351, but I'm just saying, Domestics follow a different drummer in regards to performance cars :)

Not of fan of vettes but I am a fan of american trucks hands down. As for performance love Vipers, and all the new Fords. Does Saleen count?

trucks are a different story, no one builds a truck like we do here. ide love to have an F350 crew cab dully with the Power Storke, then send it up to Ernie Banks and get some serious power out of it

If I wanted a family car w/ a serious engine, I would go w/ the GTO. I think that car is aimed at the guys who have families and would like to drive a fast car, yet they don't have the finances to afford a 2nd car just as a weekend driver. I love the LS1 engine though.
As for trucks...I used to have a Dodge truck. The women around here loved it b/c it was a modified truck for a change and not an import. I will go post it over in the Domestics section for those who are interested in seeing it.

Wasn't that the Vette that Dale Jr. crashed and burned in?

You are kidding right. There is no room in the GTO. The interior feels bigger in a focus. Most family people want a trunk too which the GTO doesn't have.
I drove the GTO it did have the V8 torque appeal but i really didn't like it. I also drove the new Subaru Legacy GT and the Subaru was way nicer

In their defense, you can't really dedicate yourself to both types of tracks at the same time. You either gotta stick to road courses, or stick to oval tracks. Personally I think some of these drivers who participate in more then one league are spreading themselves too thin, and thus are opening themselves up to these mistakes.
