So what have you done to your car in the past 30 days or so?

Ill start us off with the state of the rx-7 address:

I bent a rim, ordered a new one, and sent them all off to get a 2stage custom powdercoated colour - since I couldnt decide between gunmetal and silver im going with a custom black with silver vein to bring out the metallic flake in the paint :D (sounds like pimp my ride lol)

While my car has been out of commision ive undertaken several projects. Tinting the rear reflectors, the side markers, and repainting that gutter piece inbetween the hood and windshield. Installing fender liners / wheel well liners(via custom made mounting brackets no less) polishing up my uim, elbow, and intake pipes. I fixed my sunroof by finally figuring out what kind of motor it had and installing that one. And im in the process of making a custom grill. I got my custom 93+ upgraded / smoked turn lamps from rx7.com and sent my door moldings off to get covered in CF.

+2 teckademics stickers and what I think is the greatest sticker of all time a, "Teenage Driver in Training" sticker - brilliant :)

So what have you (or someone else) done to your ride in the past ~30 days?

Ryan

Mounted new wheels/tires, sent in defective spoiler lip, preparing to roll/stretch fenders, vented CF hood en route.

The problems I was having:

Check engine light codes from computer check:
1. Oil leaking into cylinder #3
2. Broken wire in the throttle position sensor connection
3. Multiple misfires (probably being affected by #1 above)
4. "Gunk" in the fuel system

Cost me $640 to get fixed at the dealership.

Here is all the stuff I will be doing to my car when I get home on Saturday:
1. remove "Powered by Neon" seatbelt shoulder pads (rice removal)
2. wash car
3. apply Teckademics East stickers
4. if I have time I will install the twin-turbo kit that came in the mail yesterday

I've only had my Prelude for like a month, so I got headers, a built exhaust from the headers back, an intake, and I had to replace my plugs and wires... not too interesting. I also got my slamming system in it because if I can't beat fast cars at least I can sound better than some of em.

Bumper and Passenger quarter are crap now. Went back to the wreckage site to find the head lite, thats a no go. Bad structural damage. Pulls hard to the right and the driver side front wheel has about 12 degrees of camber while the passenger side went from set 3 degrees to no degrees. Looks like the driver side wheels caster set was pushed back a ton.

allblackDSM
02-19-2005, 07:14 PM
Installed 2 new gauges. Took them out, replaced them with ones that work. Cleaned up all the wiring in the dash. Installed 2 10s in a box that leaves me no room in the trunk.

Spun a rod bearing, which resulted in a broken piston oiler. Pulled the head and oil pan. Pulled the pistons out. Broke the radiator in the process.

The head is on the work bench, the oil pan is on the floor. The pistons/rods are in a pile. The new parts are heaped on the back the car. The car will remain in said state until I deem it warm enough in the shop to put it back together.

On my other car I changed the power steering pump, which seized while driving, resulting in 3 broken belts and a looong trip home (drive, overheat, shut off, cool down, repeat). 2 days later I had to change the alternator.

On my work van, the tensioner pulley broke, while driving. Got a ride to the parts store, changed the tensioner pulley on the side of the road.

So, yeah, alot in the last 30 days.

It's fun rolling up behind a ricer on our freeway going double the speedlimit flicking the lights on and watching him pull over... :) and then just swerving past and pulling away and turning the lights off .

Just don't get caught with the lights if you go with red/blue lights >< Impersonating an officer of the law = bad idea.

Have you ever seen the strobes in police car's headlights that blink 3 times really fast on one side, then 3 on the other side, back and forth? They look just like those. But you choose the location you want them, as long as there is an area big enough to drill a 1" hole to fit the strobes.

put stock tail lights back in, installed the strobes back in them (thanks to Fitus for the help) and now a fog light is out and it's a F'in bitch to fix because all the screws to take the fog lights apart are really tight. I might just buy a new set of fog lights or somethin. Or might just say fuck it. But I really love my fog lights :(
