To me it was mainly for the ease of mind that all my save games auto saves to PSN so i wont loose any of it should i get the YLOD, but there are a lot of other benefits: discounted games and sometimes free games plus cool avatars and wallpapers and much more :)
Edit: you get 20% off Only PSN DLC as well! :D

I've received quite a few free games, beta invites, early access, discounts, etc from PSN+. Not to mention the Qore subscription (Mmm, Audrey Cleo )
Overall I've enjoyed it, and like Linken said, the online save cloud is a life saver.

Not really, the discounted items and the free ps+ games I bought still didn't add up to the $50 I spent on the damn feature. Good thing I didn't waste money on the 2 year one. How much is that one, $100 for a year?

I have not bought it, and I'm happy with my decision after talking to a couple friends. Part of it is personal preference.

yes. I have two PS3s. The saves are automatically uploaded and I can download them on my other one.
The free games are plentiful too.

It's paid off for me personally. The Qore subscribtion alone is 25 bucks a year, plus the free games that I have actually downloaded and played, yes it's paid off for me. Why just recently I downloaded Costume Quest a game I never would have downloaded or paid for and I love it, great game, normally 14.99 I got it for free. So yeah I am in the black when it comes to this and have the cloud to save games plus autodownloads are great. Not having to wait for patches to download before I play a game is great.

So it was announced today that in April Need For Speed Shift 2 will be free for PSN+ members. I never got around to getting this game, but heard great things about it, and I loved the first one, in fact I actually got my first platinum trophy from that game. So I am super stoked, just wanted you all to know. :)

I didn't like that game. The controls were all fucked up.

Shift 2 isn't even worth being free.

I haven't got it yet but when PSN went down and they gave us all a month of it free I really liked it.. My son has it still and has downloaded all kinds of free stuff which I think is sweet but I just haven't wanted to spend the money on it but I guess soon I'll break down and just try the 3 months worth..

Damn just how bad was this game? I thought the first one was pretty good, how did they mess it up so badly? Hell I'll have to download it now just to see how bad it is, lol

Shift was a great game, Shift 2 wasn't. The handling of the cars is just horrible. Thats what did it for me. Unless they pushed a massive patch since I ditched the game.

Agreed. I really enjoyed the first Shift. Even platinumed it. Shift 2 was just awful. I got pretty far since the slower cars were easier to handle. But when you get to the higher powered cars the game is nearly unplayable. Completely frustrating.
