I have been thinking about my rims (the 19"s) sitting behind my shed, bearing the brunt of all the crazy weather we have been experiencing and I remembered that due to my lazy fat ass, I put them back there filthy with layers and layers and layers of road grime and brake dust, didn't even attempt to clean them. I put a tarp over them to make it a little better  The dirt has been baking and freezing on there for a good 2 months. I found that Castrols (go figure!) wheel cleaner worked best when they were on the car and I let the dirt go for a couple months but I think this time calls for something a little more. This crap is STUCK on there......this is the big time, I dont want some spray on, foam up, rinse off bullshit, I need the REAL DEAL!! How the hell do the dealerships get the wheels so clean? Is it some kind of acid? I definitely need a trade secret, a magic concoction, a miracle if you will....not a Pep Boy special!

Try Orange Blast I use it all the time on my white rims works good. But make sure the rims are not hot from driving.

I even use it on my engine

i use castrol degreaser and a power washer. but be careful degreaser will eat the paint/chrome if your not careful. then use a power washer to finish the job.

You could use a wheel acid, but you don't want to damage the clearcoat on the wheels. If you do, you'll have to have them clearcoated again.

yea orange blast works well... but i use some oil eater thing (dont worry its safe on my rims) it cuts the brake dust and everything else down so you barely gotta scrub.. i had to drive my car to work one night with the back drivers side brake pad worn down so you can hear the caliper scraping the rotor and when i looked the next day my rims was pure rust orange color.. after tryin to rub it off i noticed it practically became part of my rim as the way real rust does almost.. well i took the rim off and used some orange blast and that oil eater stuff and it got it all off.. except for behind the rim wher it wasnt noticable and harder to reach.. my recommendations are that... if you need the "oil eater cleaner thing" let me know ill give you some..

Baby back in the days I had some beat up AMG chrome wheels. they were rusted, had baked on brake dust and all. I used Meguiar's Hot Wheels. It's acid based, and it reeks so bad. Anyway, spray it on and use a brush and it should do the trick.

I detailed my car at CMas time and I too had baked on brake dust (I hadn't washed my car for a few months - water restrictions....and laziness). I used P21S wheel cleaner and a brush and my wheels ended up looking like new
Granted, I used about two thirds of the bottle, but the result was amazing! :woo:

Okay, I went today and got the Meguiars.

Worked very well!! :thumb: Was kinda sad wrapping them up and sticking them in the shed again rather that back on the car but oh well...another couple weeks and I'll be back in business!! [pimp]

I was washing them outside and my mom comes out all excited "So did you sell them!?" Everytime I'm washing something for my car, or the actual car itself, at a weird time it usually means I'm selling it....she was upset when I said no because I have rims and tires and stereo equipment taking up much of our 2nd shed :p

when its real bad try spray on oven cleaner degreaser....thats what I seen some dealers use...and as far as "armor all" they use some kind of polish oil for wood.....

I know Dave recently raided my car audio corner.....I never had anything real good though :p I think I still have a JBL LOUD Amp, a Pioneer 12" 350W (I think Dave took one) and a box for 2 12"s....nothing you'd be interested in :p

everyone should put rejex on their rims (and their whole car) after 2 months of brake dust build up i simply can wipe the dust off with my finger...this stuff is great.
