Last year the club( i think) paid people to watch the cars that werent right at the club(Dream). I was freaked for a second when there were tons of black people around the cars when we were leaving until i found out they were watching them.

Hey for all of you out-of-towners flying in, here is some airport information.

1) Washington Reagan National Airport-located just across the river from DC in VA. Serves only continental flights, no transatlantic flights. Located right next to the main freeway heading into downtown DC. Taxi service and Subway service is available from this station

2) Dulles International Airport - located about 15 minutes west of DC in VA. This is the main DC airport, serves international flights and everything. It has a special freeway that connects it to downtown DC. Its a toll road, however there are special lanes set aside for Airport Traffic so those people DO NOT have to pay a toll. You are able to get cab service to DC w/o a problem using this airport.

3) Baltimore/Washington International Airport (aka BWI, on airport flight ticket searches this is pulled up under selecting Baltimore). This airport is about 30-40 minutes north of Washington, DC right off of I-95. Cab service is possible from this airport to DC. Also this airport runs its own shuttle taxi service and they can take you as far down as DC. Another option from this airport is that you can take the MARC train (similar to CalTrans commuter trains) or Amtrak train into Union Station in DC.

For all of you driving people, here is some helpful information:

DC Morning Rush Hour: 5am-9am
DC Evening Rush Hour: 3pm-7pm

If you are traveling DC Freeways during those times, set time aside for traffic problems and backups because you're gonna get them. Typically major hangup spots are at the I-95/I-495/I-395 interchange (typically referred to as the Mixing Bowl) on the south side of DC in VA, the American Legion Bridge (I-495 on the west side of DC where you cross the Potomac River at the MD/VA line), and the Woodrow Wilson Bridge (I-95/I-495 at the DC/MD line on the southside of DC).

I-395 is your best bet to get into downtown DC from VA and Points South. I-295/Baltimore Washington Parkway is the best bet for people traveling from NYC/up North to get into DC.

For those coming off of I-81, I-66 takes you right into DC.

For those coming off of I-70 from Points West, in Frederick take I-270 South and that will put you right onto I-495 (aka the Beltway) on the NW side of DC. Also depending on how far west you people are coming from, an option you may want to use to bypass is the PA Turnpike is to take I-79 south off of I-70, then pick up I-68 in Morgantown, WV and shoot east to I-70 again in MD.

ALSO, DC HAS SPEEDING CAMERAS!! They are commonly setup on New York Avenue (US 50) and I-295, in addition to other places. Watch your speeds!

On a sidenote, I am sure there will be adequate security to take care of everybody's rides. However last I heard Dream was in SE DC, which is a bad part of town. Don't get lost down there.

Also, I will not be able to attend b/c I'm 5 months shy of 21. If there is anybody kind enough to get me on a VIP list or something where such a thing would be overlooked, that would be awesome, but I doubt that will happen. If you guys have anymore travel questions shoot them to me over PM or AIM.

Addition to my above travel information:

EZ-Pass works at ALL MD and VA toll plazas.

For those coming from the NE, if you're gonna hit DC right at rush hour, I would suggest using the Delmarva Pennisula to bypass Baltimore and most of the mess. To do this take US 301 off of the Delaware Turnpike (I believe its the last exit heading south on I-95 before hitting the MD line). US 301 will turn into a high priority 4 lane rural highway (high priority meaning at most major crossings there will be interchanges, however at lesser traffic crossings the intersections will be at-grade). The cops patrol US 301 somewhat b/c the road is easy to open a car up on since ur running thru farmland.

US 301 will merge together with US 50 just east of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and turn into a freeway. You WILL NOT have to pay the toll heading westbound across the Bay Bridge. On the westside of the Bay Bridge, US 50/301 remains a freeway. When US 301 splits from US 50 in Bowie, continue on US 50, which will stay a freeway until you get into NE DC when it turns into New York Avenue.

Nice info. Dream is actually in NE off of NY Ave. The cars are fine at the clubs because the parking in fenced in with staff always on site. Not really a bad area. Not nice but not bad either.

Hey that's actually a good idea. Hopefully the hotel where we'll be getting a discount at will be relatively close by. I didn't even think about what I would be doing with my car since I will probally be in no condition to unlock it... let alone drive. Perhaps a hotel in the area has secure garage parking, with a sauna/steam room to sweat off all the alcohol so we all will be in tip-top shape for the following night?? :)

NY Avenue on the red line is the station they just opened up....and thats not downtown (I think of the Capitol and all of the govt buildings as downtown in technically what is NW) In fact, if my memory serves correctly, don't get off and walk out of that station there if you're white.

New York Avenue is a major throughfare thru DC, so if you travel along it by car, especially during rush hour, you shouldn't be bothered. However, the fun starts when you turn off of NY Avenue onto the sidestreets in NE. Just be sure to lock your doors. For out of towners, travel in packs or be very sure of where you're going. DC is somewhat lacking on signs, so don't expect to see huge well labeled street signs at every turn.

I trust though everybody can handle themselves in a city. I mean, what American City isn't rough these days once you leave the business district/rich part of town?

Also, in regards to hotels...if you want to book inside the DC City Limits, go with the one that Dustin chooses. If you choose a Howard Johnson, a Comfort Inn, or something of that matter, there's a good chance it will be right on NY Avenue in NE DC just inside the DC/MD line. I would not recommend it, as parking for those is uncovered, right next to the street with exterior entrances to the rooms, so ur nice car would definitely be boosted and you could be robbed as you leave your room.

If Days Inn or Comfort Inn, or something of that caliber is all you can afford, book in MD or Northern VA. Chances are you'll save a little money booking in either of those two places as well.
