Disable some startup programs you don't use and do a virus scan during regular boot up then again in safe mode. I had that same issue with my pc a few months ago and it turned out to be a gangbang of viruses in my startup folder.

chances are yeah that you have a million things loading on start up that you dont need/use

get "hijackthis" and you can thoroughly turn off all this programs that you don't want running at all times from the registry for start up

run ccleaner

Fix any discrepancies found in the registry, and also you can edit your startup options there and what to start them by (registry or explorer, something like that)

Think I found the issue. Well the issue found me. Ive been letting my brother us my pc since his rig blew up about 2 months ago. Today I jump on and I have the Construct virus or w/e its called. It acts as a spyware protection but dosnt allow you to do shit. So I download cleaning tools from another pc to run and hopefully kill off the virus and my computer freezes. I go to restart and everything boots up but vista. So now im left with 2 black screens and a moving underscore. Wtf, any ideas

Thats in the back of my mind now. I just want to save my files and get the virus out of my pc. Then if its not running smoothly Ill have a shot at regular windows.
