I am getting mixed responses from Google. I'd say reset your router. Also try to completely disconnect the PS3 from the internet and reset-up the connection.

Some people are saying it's PSN going through updates or whatever. Others are saying it needs to be sent in. While I can't remember if that's the exact code or not I believe I have seen it on mine before. I would wait a little while and keep trying before resorting to sending it to Sony.

Did you get the Yellow Light Of Death?

Just scroll down a little but until you see today's date. Seems it's happening to a lot of people today. Looks like a problem in Sony's side, not your beloved system.

EDIT:

Here too:

All this is today. Someone is blaming Skynet. Might want to get a shotgun handy. Or a nuke.

I'm getting the same error.. I googled and saw stuff I didn't want to see. Luckily TONS of other people are seeing the same error.

Is it only when connecting to the Playstation Network? Couldnt be a network issue, and not a console issue.

Dont send it to Sony yet, exhaust every possible fix attempt before going down that road.

READ!!!

Its network wide and your console may be fine. Their forums are all fucked up too. I would say just DON'T try logging into PSN at all until you get word that its safe.

ok, lol

that is good news hopefully
especially since i had been on this morning playing with WildhareMS and everyday up to here with no problems, and my network setup is solid so it shouldnt be that

The PS3 forums are messed up, but the UK and the MAG forums are fine (both work off of the PS3 forums). So I dont know. Some of the posters on the MAG forums came up with a theory.

Look at what today was, Feb 28th. Someone thinks that there was a coding error in certain older fat PS3's that makes the system think tomorrow is the 29th, when in fact, it isnt. Causing the system to go haywire, making it revert back to Dec 31st 1999. Im not sure if its a good cause for these issues, but its an idea.

It doesnt explain the weird messages that appeared on the Playstation homepage earlier either. Someone thinks the entire PSN was hacked. But that wouldnt explain why systems that are not connected to the internet are experiencing problems.

Its a mess, lets hope it gets fixed soon. Keep an eye on here and on Joystiq, I wont be on the forums tomorrow until late. So I can't help with things.

I would advise not even turning on your ps3 until this is resolved people are reporting that playing games offline are losing trophies for that game.

Well I came up with a theory:

Alright so it thought today was the 29th which it obviously isn't and when it realized this it said "fuck it, I need a day off." So it's just taking a little vacation time to relax for a little bit before coming back to work. That's all.

Well thats good thats its fixed at least, I noticed this morning that I couldn't log in but I only used it to watch episode 2 of Tester, so you can confirm that we can use our old PS3's?

Well all I'm hearing around the internet is that it's fixed. I am waiting until tomorrow to turn mine on though. I guess all you need to do is try to log into the PSN though to see if it works or not right? You don't have to try it on a game.

Seems to have just fixed itself. Oddly, once the GMT went past 0001, tada! PS3's are working. So weird, but expect an update coming soon from Sony.
