holy shit guys, i just got reunited with this website and found this thread http://www.mischief.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=36473 haha kind of funny...anyways, since the original thread (which was basically just an introduction) A LOT has happened. More mods + cams, then a blown motor, now fully built and a decent amount of custom stuff...it's not quite done yet, my triple disc clutch is on 3 week back order and I still need a few more parts, but basically I have almost everything, just need the chassis back to start mocking up. The car is currently getting a custom manual steering rack put in which is why I don't have it at my shop currently. When it's back here I will be shaving the engine bay and repainting it along with doing all the IC piping etc.

I think ill just copy/past from other threads on other forums so you guys get everything, so the next few posts will be everything up until today:

Finally got some more updates...

well, 2 days ago I got my throttle bodies and gauge rings, yesterday the rails showed up and today the injectors :) Next week will probably be machine work for the block...its all coming together quickly! So here it is...throttle bodies, RC 1000cc injectors, custom top feed rails, machined lower plenum for the top feed injectors, full -8AN fittings, all the fun s***. Ill get more pictures when I feel like actually assembling stuff and using a camera not just my cell phone.

The stock throttle bodies are 50mm ID, these are full CNC 58mm throttle bodies. This provides 35% more cross sectional area than stock. These throttle bodies, combined with 2.5" IC piping, and 3" exhaust (as opposed to 2" stock IC piping, and full 2.5" upgraded exhaust), has seen dyno proven gains of almost 100rwtq and 70+rwhp...

i gasket matched the ports on the upper and lower manifold, actually took a decent bit of material off and spent a good amount of time on shaping, as well as porting/radiusing the oil pump to get some extra flow, and porting the throttle body holes for the larger TBs. Lots of work and lots of time shaping for maximizing flow, but hopefully will be worth it!

more updates soon, my cams will be here tomorrow (friday), and I have a crank scraper being built which should be next week as well.

btw, the cams are a 272 duration, .385" lift (~9.8mm) *JWT R5*

hatch stripped/dry iced/painted. The plywood enclosure for my subs will be re-covered with the same material as my door panels (as opposed to the black carpet material before). The hatch will remain stripped and with a battery relocation, but the cockpit will retain full carpet. I'm still waiting for adjustable cam gears (on back order, no ETA as of yet..), and the head guy has 1 and a half weeks before a legal note is on its way to his baby mommas house, his house, and the NJ and FL police departments. :) Ill post more as it comes! Next buy on the list is the haltech EMS and the roll cage since its actually stripped now
------------------------------------------------------------------
haha hey guys, sorry for the insane lack of updates, I need to keep up more on this site. Anyways, im just sitting waiting for stuff yet again. As you know, the first set of heads got ripped off along with about $1800. So I purchased a new set of heads, new valvetrain, and started over. These heads will be done next week (this time from a local VERY good shop). The list goes like this:
Supertech Ti retainers/seats
Supertech dual valve springs
Supertech inconel .5mm OS exhaust valves
Supertech Black nitride .5mm OS intake valves
Bronze valve guides

5 angle valve job on intake valves, radius job on exhaust. Major porting, bowl/chamber work, shaving spark plug boss in the chamber.

These heads will be just as good (if not better) as the original set of heads I was SUPPOSED to get. Supertech valvetrain is rated to like 11krpm.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/GinoZ32/build/IMG_9558.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/GinoZ32/build/IMG_9556.jpg

Also got my custom manual steering rack. This will be installed this weekend when I trailer the car to the shop to drop off. To fit this will need some slight modification. The drivers side rack mount on the crossmember will need to be modified/moved, the rack ends will need to be sleeved, and I will be using race heim joints as tie rod ends. To keep the OE pivot points the rack had to be shortened 2 inches which brought the total length to 1.5" shorter than stock which is why it needs to be sleeved. Not a major deal.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/GinoZ32/build/Photo0046.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/GinoZ32/build/Photo0048.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/GinoZ32/build/Photo0047.jpg

The rack is a 3-3/4 lock-lock quick ratio rack. Should be fun :)

My battery is relocated in the hatch (Optima red-top in a nice optima battery bracket) in that little indented area (passengers side back corner in the hatch).
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/GinoZ32/hatch.jpg

I finished porting my oil pump (no pics sorry) and the bottom end is all buttoned up now. The original crank scraper I had was one for a VG30E (mistake of the seller), so it did not fit correctly (around the oil pick-up tube). This issue was resolved and a new DETT scraper set was sent to me, so I am still running that. (yet again no pics of that before assembly, sorry!).

ALSO, got my custom FMIC in a few days after the rack got here. Custom built by Bell to my specs (somewhat like T0M's fmic). The core is a vertical core, 24.2"x6"x4.5". The end tanks bring the total height to 12". The FMIC is rated at 1000+hp :) The inlets/outlets face the motor to further simplify piping and cut down on a lot of unnecessary piping.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/GinoZ32/build/newfmic/1.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/GinoZ32/build/newfmic/2.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/GinoZ32/build/newfmic/3.jpg

obviously this will utilize custom 2.5" piping as straight and short as possible.

Also my brain came in...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/GinoZ32/build/haltech/haltech1.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/GinoZ32/build/haltech/haltech2.jpg

Haltech Platinum Sport 2000 with harness. 5 bar map sensor, IAT sensor, and boost controller.

not to mention I got a great deal on some JUN adjustable cam gears.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/GinoZ32/build/jun1.jpg
That pic looks distorted I know, cell phone pic and weird angles. I can assure you they are round :)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/GinoZ32/build/jun.jpg

lastly, I've also been prepping and painting my engine bay (which will be done after the rack. Figure ill let them scratch s*** up before I finish the paint job) and I took the time to install my carbon fiber fog light ducts (replace the fog lights).
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/GinoZ32/cfducts.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/GinoZ32/CFduct.jpg

So thats it for now. Once my heads are back ill be putting everything together. Supposedly the guy that f***ed me over is going to give me a full refund AND send my heads back (major port work but no valvetrain), so if he actually follows through with that (almost 2 grand) I will have the car finished as soon as I receive the refund. The 3 biggest parts I have left are the low profile motor mounts, ATI crank dampener, and the triple disc clutch. Other than that its just little things like the fuel lines (full nylon braided -8AN), fittings, and the oil lines/fittings for the turbos. So it's very close...just waiting...Ill take some pics of the rack once its done, and obviously the heads and other parts as they come in.

:) hope that holds you over for a while!

you can see they shaped the ports VERY nicely flowing with everything, and a major improvement over stock (ill take some pics of a stock head for comparison).
------------------------------------------------------------------------
well finally got everything. My new headgaskets showed up monday, my Brett Dempsey engineering low profile motor mounts and ATI crank pulley showed up wednesday, so started tossing things back together. I have the heads on but not bolted down, I want to get bigger washers for the ARP studs. The provided washers are actually smaller in diameter than the stock washers- I want to get larger washers to help disperse the load better. Would like to take no risks on this motor lol. Once I get the new washers I'll be mocking everything up (Turbos, etc) and doing what I need to do! The car should be back (from the steering rack install) early next week hopefully then I'll be able to really set things up..I'll take better pics tomorrow when I'm back home:

Got the housing clocked, just need to rotate the CHRA a few degrees counter clockwise for the inside oil feel flange bolt to clear the manifold (be able to put it in lol) since these are not internal threaded CHRA's (no direct -AN fittings) :(

other than that, just ordered a 95 TT harness, 1pc drive shaft, and rameyz idler pulley studs. I will be ripping the oil pan back off to shave a little more for crank clearance on the oil scraper spacer. So maybe this time ill actually take pics of the scraper installed :)

All that's left is radiator, fuel/oil/coolant lines before its drivable..and my 3 week backordered clutch lol. Whenever my car body actually comes back ill do a lot of test fitting everything and then running the fuel lines and such. :) Currently the oil filter tree is soaking (de-greaser), and i will clean it/paint it gold (and the oil pump will get re-painted since i like it. just without bubbles and i won't peel it off lol)

Congrads Gino.

Im always happy when I see people take the opportunity to do a build instead of simply blowing an old engine. Outside of your parts im sure the work you had done to the block and rebuilding the head was actually pretry affordable and worth it to keep your parts from falling to pieces.

Im looking forward to seeing more of the build.

I noticed your putting in a Manual steering rack. Im assuming you already have done some suspension mods to the vehicle? How hard do you think its going to be to turn the wheel?

well i guess i'll update again haha, lots of progress, manual rack is done. pretty much everything is done, all i need is to finish the engine bay before dropping the motor (shaving and painting), do IC piping, get the exhaust, and get the brakes. BUT since I owe 1k in taxes (no idea how. they should be taking out everything, i have 0 for exemptions) it's a minor set back, so now everything is pushed about a week ahead.

all my suspension is done (minus subframe bushings, which i have solid bushings. just need to put them in):

fuel pump hanger is done (for dual pumps and full true AN fittings) *heavy modification of OEM hanger*:

engine 98% assembled:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/GinoZ32/build/clutch/top.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/GinoZ32/build/clutch/all.jpg

got all my extra gauges:
1 wideband, 2 EGT, 1 OPS (for a total of 2 wideband, 2 egt, 1 ops, 1 boost)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/GinoZ32/build/gauges.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/GinoZ32/build/gaugeface1.jpg

drilled and tapped turbo comp. housings for boost reference port (for boost controller so I don't need to put nipples on the IC piping), and drilled and tapped the exhaust manifolds for the EGT probes:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/GinoZ32/build/5.jpg

and engine bay work. Relocated fuse box to frame rail, removed all HICAS (4ws) lines, all OEM fuel hardlines, now just need to shave all un-used holes and repaint, plus run the -8 braided lines from the hanger to the bay- then i can drop motor in:

Remote clutch bleeder delete (the bleeder line that ran to the wheel well. Useless, as you still needed to bleed both the slave cylinder and that bleeder so it's not like it made it any easier. actually just made more work. Originally it was supposed to work so that's all you had to bleed, but it doesn't..at least not on mine lol.

Also re-clocked the turbos for the oil feed lines to make sure everything fits good and completely assembled the front of the engine:

haha thanks guys :)

i was wondering about the exhaust comment to lol but that makes sense now. The new exhaust will be a lot louder, and a lot more spooly! I should be getting paint for the bay this weekend and hopefully doing the subframe (which will also get cleaned and painted). And maybe even drop the motor in to check everything!

should be mid may. I owed 1k in taxes so that set me back a little bit. The majority of what's left is just work and when I get around to it. But as for parts wise, downpipes/test pipes, 2.5" IC piping to make, wilwood brakes, and the new wheels- then just needs to be tuned

That parts to order or parts to be put on?

Seems like a decent amount of work to me, but then again, I've been doing a fair amount of fixing shit on my own cars lol. Stupid head. (referencing my shim clearance problems... not a comment of a 5 year old)

sorry for the lack of updates guys! I've been way busier than I expected lately, but things are getting done: All that's left is finishing up some wiring and clamping/tightening fuel lines and coolant lines. So here are the updates since the last time. (just copy/paste posts from other forums so I don't have to type it all):

Well, got the motor fully assembled minus the turbos (need to get SS lines for coolant, don't want to use the nylon lines, probably to hot around the turbo for them), and sprayed the bay finally! I need to go back and fix the firewall (a few little runs from before I dialed the gun in. I was using the firewall as the test spot lol). Also got my steering wheel (sparco mugello). My brakes will be here next week, as will IC piping, then it's just a matter of doing the IC piping, wiring everything up, and getting it tuned! So damn close now!

----------------------

test fit the motor to see what had to be massaged...had to remove the spacer on the DS turbo as the turbo was resting on the steering shaft (I heard this might happen as with the stock rack it is very close without the spacer)- so then I had to grind the manifold...then weld where I broke through :x but all is well now. Haven't re-tested the motor fitment yet as I've been doing a paper for the majority of the day haha but it should clear now. If not, I will make a little spacer for the shaft connection and rotate the rack a little bit to make the shaft angle a little more steep for a little more clearance, but it looks like its ok. It didn't need to much extra room to fit right.

other than that, brake kit showed up today!

wilwood superlite 6 piston calipers (insanely light), wilwood 2pc slotted rotors, SS lines, brackets, everything I need. Now I just need to run the harness, put the motor back in, and do the IC piping :)

---------------------

I've been VERY busy lately and haven't had much chance to update things, so here we go.

From the last place I left off at, I actually shifted the entire steering rack over another inch, so I had to cut a little more off the tie rod and the heim joint- and now I am battling with keeping the rack in place in the mounts. I welded a bead on one side which holds it fine, but I need to do something more than that on the other side of the mount- so since I will be at the beach this weekend that won't happen until monday. The motor is in to stay this time, I got all the rest of the coolant lines that I needed as well as made a mount for the oil cooler, everything is hooked up loosely (not clamped yet), wiring harness is in (not connected. going to be tucking and re-routing a lot of it), all that is left is the intercooler piping which is happening this week (dropping the car off monday night or tuesday night depending if I can get the steering rack to stay in place monday lol). then just finish up some wiring, and get it tuned by Brad Brooks.

I mocked up the IC to see how it would look with the bumper on and everything, and it looks damn sexy. I got the dimensions perfect for the bumper!

(haha got a new wide angle lens so I had to test it out)

Obviously the car will be vacuumed and heavily cleaned interior, it's a freakin mess from getting in and out so much. The wheels will also be repainted again, matte black spokes with gloss black lip. and that's where she stands. estimated completion in at most 2 weeks, the IC piping should only take a day or so, then it's just whenever I can do all the wiring and get everything set, then get it on the dyno for tuning. So Obviously when the piping is done I'll put up more pics!

-------------------------

Picked her up today, just need to finish up wiring now (tuck the harness etc), and finish clamping fuel/coolant lines and tightening AN fittings. Then hopefully tune next weekend!

my baby turbo and FPR. You can actually see the turbos from the engine bay!!

and here are the quick photoshops that lead me to gold. I was originally thinking black but wasn't sure how it would look- then I photoshopped it, and way to much black. IMO gold looks 100 times better than black would..

and don't mind the bumper, it's only on by 2 nuts so it can flex for getting on/off the trailer.

Damn this car is making me drool intensely!!

I would love to see the IC pipes thermal coated. lol That's just me, I like the look and I think it would be really nice with that beautiful paint & the black intake & engine.

Man thats nice. But it's no match for my 185awhp 2.5 RS scooby! J/K I love fairlady's and I really like how you removed all the unnecessary bosses and unusable junk automakers throw into cars. Very clean and good work.
