I was recently looking at the alpine IVA-D300 on eBay, and found that buy it now, brand new prices were half of what they are over here in OZ.
I considered it too good to be true, so I emailed alpine and asked what the difference was. They informed me that the units were region locked, so that the US version will only play region 1 DVD's.
Is there any way of hacking/changing this so that the player is region free?
If I plug an australian (PAL) playstation into the unit and play dvd's through that, will it work? Are the units NTSC/PAL sensitive?
I could always burn the dvd's i want to play in the car and make them region free, but that's a pain in the arse. A pain in the arse, mind you, that would save me AUD$1,600.
Any info?
