Any gamers in the house? Doom 3 is due to ship on the 3rd of August, due in stores the next day. I'm freaking excited about it. Doom I and II were the shit, and the first memorable PC games I had played back in the days when I was pushing a 486 DX2 66 w/ 4mb of ram lol.
I think that game is gonna be scary as fuck playing all alone at night w/ 5.1 surround.
Anyone hyped about it? :D

Doc you just gave me a great idea. But I am more of a C&C guy. Currently playing Generals Zero Hour when I get a chance. But Doom was diffenetly a great game. Thats the game that got me hooked on games like Counter Strike and HALO. HAve you seen the new Gameboy or the New Playstation that will try to compete with the Gameboy?

Gio, You're talking about the Nintendo DS:

and the Sony PSP:

I want to get BOTH. The PSP for mobile GT4 action, movies, etc, and the DS because I've been playing Nintendo since the NES came out.
Oh yeah, and I can't wait to play Doom 3 in 7.1 surround sound on my big screen
Nintendo well be the first out of the gate. With its backward compatibility it will be ahead about 500 cartridge games. Plus with its long Monopoly of Video game handhelds will also secure its success.
I think both will be succesful, but Sony will be succesful for 3 reasons. They have allot of marketing money to push their new systems always. They always have a large list of game companies ready to support their products. And it supposedly has MP3 support. Via memory stick.
Personally I am probably only going to go for the Nintendo. Why? Well the games they produce are fun to take on the road. With the double screen means allot better RPG games. I hated playin racing games on those little ass screens. Its hard enough doing 180mph in NFS Underground on my 42 inch. So I hope Sony has done its research because they will havea tough time buying me.

I agree 100% on the DS, it's already got 773 games to choose from and of course, it's Nintendo, and you're gaurenteed to have some really fun games.
However, I think that the PSP will be very succesful until the next TRUE gameboy comes out (the ds is just a side project). The PSP will play movies, music, access the net via wireless lan (as will the DS) and has graphics comprable to the PS2 (whereas the DS is more on par with the N64). Time, and money will tell the whole story though, the PSP is thought to be around $300-$400 where the DS will likely be more like $150 or so. Touch screen and the ingenuity of Nintendo is gonna make for some interesting gaming, but the PSP will be the ultimate mobile do everything device.
I just can't wait until they announce the real Next Gameboy.

I remember Doom, and Wolfenstein 3D (how many of you Old Skool Gamers remember that??). If they make Doom 3 as good as they made Return to Castle Wolfenstein, then it will be a good game.
I used to play Counter-strike professionally, but I got tired of all the hours I had to put into the game and stay pro level (taking down cheaters on CS was hard, but very doable, their upper advantage becomes their crutch  ) and I wanted to get out and enjoy life.
Doom 3 will be a good game though.
