Bob808 and his Holden SSV! Now, tell us a little about the car Bob
When I got the SSV (new) in June 2007, I said to myself I'm not going to mod this car, I'm going to keep it STOCK. The very same day I brought it home, I put on a stubby antenna Window tint followed a few weeks later, but that's a MUST for our hot climate/car thieves.

A couple months passed and I decided the jacked up SUV look was terrible. Enter Walkinshaw Performace for what would be the first of three visits for modifications I had them instal some lowering springs, and the gap was reduced! Unfortunately, I can't find any pics of that. My bad
Note: Walkinshaw has a long standing history with Holden and are one of Australias most repsected Holden tuners, so I knew my car would be in good hands!
October 2007 I got sick & tired seeing LOTS of Non VE SSVs rolling on my (factory) 19" wheels. So I thought I'd get some 20s. That's when I got these:

They had a lot of mixed reactions But I like to be different, and these wheels set my SSV apart from the others
March 2008 I decided the factory sound system was indeed rubbish and needed more bass! I had purchased a pre-fab sub box with amp from eBay, but never hooked it up. Instead I sold it to a mate.
Enter fellow Mischief member CAG (George). He was recommended to me by a mate (Pete) who had a Holden Barina (Opel Corsa) that George had worked on. He told me I could trust George with my car, and his work was 2nd to none.... Pete was right!
The system went from the factories measly 230 watts, to 2300 watts The install is stealth and sounds amazing

Components
Alpine PXE-H650 System Integration Audio Processor
Alpine SPX - 17 PRO (6.5") Component Speakers
Alpine PDX - 2.150 Digital Amplifier
Alpine SWX - 1243D (12") Subwoofer
Alpine PDX - 1.1000 Digital Amplifier
While George was working on the SSV, I would drop in a couple times a week and we would chat. George and I became friends in a short amount of time, and I now consider him a really good mate.... (Love ya George... ya big wog )
June 2008 I decided to upgrade the suspension as the lowering springs (with factory shocks) didn't give me the handling I wanted, plus the ride height wasn't quite right. To my delight, I discovered that Walkinshaw had their own coil overs, made to their specs by Tein!!
Whilst at Walkinshaw, I noticed they had their own wheels as well. I made an enquiry and they gave me a VERY good deal on them, so they became my 2nd set of 20s....

August 2008 my car was due for it's 30,000km service, I thought I'd be nice to have some more power and hear a bit of V8 rumble so I booked the SSV into Walkinshaw Performance for the 30k service and their 'Power Pack' (Intake, Tune, Exhaust) that bumped power from 270kw to 300kw and torque from 530nm to 600nm. They also sorted out the gearbox shift patterns!! The car was a different animal after that, I'm VERY glad I did it!
October 2008 On www.g8board.com a member posted pics of his G8 on Breyton (Race GTS) wheels. They looked great on his car, and I wondered what other wheels Breyton had.... enter my current set of wheel: Breyton Race GT (20 x 8, 20 x 9.5)

My local tyre shop, and even myself, had no idea how much trouble we were in for with these wheels The front wheels were fine, the rear wheels were a total PITA.
The widest rear wheels Holden/HSV fit on the VE are 9.5" wide with a 57 offset. My rears are 10" wide with a 35 offset The rear guards were rolled... TWICE, two drainage pipes that sit above the rear guards were ground down, the rear bumper brackets were ground down...... and the car STILL rubs over large bumps
I've put up with it because I have the only (tastefully) Blacked out VE in Sydney. I know that sounds conceited, but it's true!
These wheels completed my car and earned it many admirers. My car is much loved by the G8Board guys, so much so, just mention Bob's car and they know exactly who you're talkin about
I think that about covers it
Bob.
Thanks for sharing your story Bob and congratulations on winning again! :loki:
