View Full Version : My cobalt DD/ autox car

Finally got some wheels so now it looks waaaaay better. So far it has progress springs, progress rear sway bar, MotorWork CAI (took off for winter), and my latest addition, Kosei Racing K1's with General Exclaim UHP tires. This thing is my DD so the only other things to go on will be a better set of dampers, right now it has the FE5 set though so they are at least well damped for the springs. Then my black housing halo projectors with 8000k HID kit will be going in as well. I might put an exhaust on it, but for now I'm enjoying the quiet time. This thing grips like crazy, especially now that I got these killer tires and wheels. They widened the wheelbase +15 and now the turn-in is really crisp and the steering overall is really responsive. Now I honestly dont feel comfortable finding its limits on the road I'm gonna wait till the 1st auto-x to find that one out. But, anyhow heres the pics.

Couldnt afford an SS that I could find that was a Sedan, don't like the coupes. And no, it won't get a fart can it would get a magnaflow, theyre kit is really nice and sounds awesome.
Awsome, what size are those rims by the way? They 18s?

Def not 18s. Looks like 16s to me.
But, nice car. I'm not a big Cobalt fan but I think that's mostly cause of the bad image punk kids give them revving at me at red lights. I wish they came in sedan form with just slightly more agressive looking bumpers and skirts. I have no idea how long you've had this thing since I don't have hardly time recently to browse in here. Where to you autox in PA? I'm from Mount Carmel (Coal region area) and make lots of trips up there. Over this summer I may try to get to some events back in PA. I've not gotten to autox the Mach 1 yet, just lots of drag strip time. You an SCCA member?

I auto-x at north park outside of pittsburgh and also at beaverrun raceway. I think the first event is the first sunday in april (5th I think) and the first test and tune is the last weekend this month. Thanks for all the compliments guys I really appreciate it. And no I am not yet an SCCA member but will join soon. Go to NHSCC.com and beaverun.com

Hmmm, they look bigger than 16s judging by the truck rims. Must be the small lip that make them look bigger (spoke goes pretty much to the outside of the rim).

Yup you guessed it 15's. Ridicule all you want but with the way it is lowered and how the fenders on these cars are flared out it looks perfect. The reasons behind the 15's were that the wheel is lighter (only 11lbs per wheel) and tires are cheaper. I was going for performance and with a wheel this light it woke this thing up. I lost almost 10lbs per wheel and that's unsprung rotational weight so its a major difference.

yeah thats a smart thing to do and it looks just right on small cars
unsprung weight will kill your cars suspension agility
