this happened back in august, new on the site. Cruisin in my z from this chick I just hit off, this guy in a Blue SRt4 pulls up besides me, drops back pulls forward and so on while looking over at me. just thinking it was a regular neon at first I go for it, dropped 2 gears from 5 to 3rd and I'll tell you that f*^( srt took off on me so hard I never new that car pulls so hard and we we started at like 45mph and thats when I knew it was a SRT4. got behind him cause we got caught behind a slower car and now were getting on Rt 46 in New Jersey this long straight. put the z in 2nd gear keeping the revs high now and I'm timing him to see when hes about to go around that civic so we can go for round 2. Timed him perfectly. I punch it and I redlined 2nd gear, got up to his right rear quarter panel and were at it. Up in 3rd were at about 90mph now and he kinda pulled a little but when I shifted into 4th 120mph or my driverside mirror was at a little infront of his pass. mirror. End of 4th gear I'm whooping his ass 145mph. I guess those SRt4 are limited to like 135mph. going for overkill I hit 5 gear now in speeds excess 160 thanks to a JWT chip upgrade couldnt read mph gauge anymore, needle stopped at 160. Did 160* for 1/2 a mile while the z feelin like its doing 100mph. By this time Istopped racing the SRt4 and got on the Garden State Pkwy. Pulled into a pit stop so the adrenaline can stop pumping and here comes the Srt. Pulled his window down and asked if I had a Turbo and I said no. He pulled his window up so dissapointed. Poor SRT. If you see a burgundy/blue/whiteor black 300zx in jersey dont think about it thats my crew and one of the zx has a R34 Skyline motor in it.

Then again, I did beat a Turbo FD RX-7... 4 times in Belair MD.. (0MPH-140+)Yellow. and he had a friend too.. so he got embarassed.. and I hang with Slightly (intake, exhaust, WGA, BOV) Modded SRT-4s.. so either I have a Stage 1 and the dealer didn't tell me, or I have a freak SRT.. :blush:

He means SXT or R/T or SE or ACR or whatever.. The R/T and SXT can be bought with the SRT looks package.. which gives you the same tips on a dual MUFFLER and the same rear wing and bumper and sideskirts. The front remains unchanged. I have an SXT and with a good launch I can hang with my buddy's SE-R up until about 55-60 if that's any kind of indication.. but My SRT-4 WILL do 60 in less than 5.5 and WILL out accelorate an NA 300.. I have no doubts about that. (unless said NA 300 is ridiculously modded)

Yea while reading it I started thinking that he had a twin turbo 300zx, NA doesnt stand a chance. I have a slightly modded mustang gt which is nearly the same as an srt-4 and there is a kid with an stock NA 300zx who says he can take me. Never said it to my face just heard it from some friends.

Slightly modded meaning? GTs aren't as fast when they're stock for sure.. in fact I'd go so far as to say they're slow. Not bashing, just curious as to what mods

I know that there is like alittle fued between the two cars, but the cars aren't a white and black difference. I have a 99GT with pro 5.0 shifter, magnaflow catted x-pipe, magnaflow catback, intake, 3.73s. thats it for now. I have a novi 2000 and am piecing it together, should be installed within the next two months. Have nearly all the fuel system parts. I am most likely a very high 13 second car. I haven't been to the track so I can't be positive, I will be going come spring though. I can only tell with the cars I have beat. The most close race was between a g35 where I won by a car and a half or so, but it was an auto. I know the 0-60 is rated at 5.5 stock which is prolly what I run now with the mods. I don't think the car is slow, it seems alot of people think so though. I have a friend with a 330ci who thought he could beat me and I thought he would too. I raced him from 50-130 and won by atleast 3 cars, had jklim in my car from this site to whitness it. I definatly like the srt-4, better engine than my modular shit, but I am 17 and can't throw that much money around, though

Alot of difference in the cars once you're moving though.. The SRT's 1/4 is slower because of Drivetrain. notice it has a much higher trap.. I know of totally stockers that pull 107 traps. On the road it moves much faster. I've never lost to a stock GT, and I'm stock trough and through save for the Mopar BOV. With those mods, you'd probably be just as, maybe even a little faster in the 1/4, but weight and powerband make a big difference on the road.. And no feud. I don't like my car THAT much to be ignorant, I've just never thought of the GT as a 'fast' car.. might be a low 14 sec car, but on the road, it slows down.. Stock of course.

I have spent close to 4k in upgrades for the z all motor and my car can do 165+ after reading all these posts I just want to sell the damn car and buy a Twin Turbo. I seriously cant believe those SRT4 has that high of a Top end. the dude must of saw 130+ and got scared.

Before I read on anymore any stock z can do 135 to 140 in 4th gear since we only have 5. since I have a the upgraded chip to push the redline back I am able to do up to 145mph in 4th gear before changing out. I have no interna modds done to the block. Yet. The head has been worked on and in.
Unorthrodox racing pulleys, crank pulley, whole exhaust system redone. Cams springs and shit. I'm not bullshitten about my z. No need. All the power of my car is at higher Rpms and is not alight car at that. Srt4 are quick off the line but other than that hmm.

I'm trying to reply to everyones response. It is slightly modded, I've spent to date nearly 4k with the cheapest part being the $600 stillen Racing headers. plus 250 to install JC auto. The Parts and the labor prices are why the cost came up to so much money. To me the car is slightly moodded because other friends with a z have spent excess of 8k especially Tony with Skyline motor in his shit. The swap alone costed about 9k or even more( he has the money for it, rich sob). I didnt get to reply sooner cause of the overtime I am working. To someone elses reply who lives in jersey Rt 46 is bumpy but I've raced on 46 a couple of times.This race happened 3:30 to 4:00 am on a sunday. SRT4 are fast but Ive seen an Eagle Talon TSI 1990 whoooooop the shit out of an SRT4.

alright everyone, lets not have a pissing contest... maybe his z really is capable of what he says... my brother had a 89 crx with a swaped jdm b16a w/ a bunch of other things along with being gutted out.. the crx had about 180 hp.. not much at all.. but this thing kept up with my friends modded m3. it ran a 13.8 all motor back in the summer. got the slip/ pics of the car to prove it. anyways.. i had some ass pickin a fight with me tellin me that thats not possible.. when indeed it is. MORAL: just give ppl the benifit of the doubt and let them back it up and if they cant than call BS on it. like i said i got pics/slip/and video to prove the crx story. .no one gave me the benifit of the doubt so i didnt bother showin them anythgin cause their judgmental opinion (b4 the facts) made me feel the need to not prove myself to them...

Ditto.. a benz E430 found that out last month.. coming back from Baltimore on 95 South, I was leaving him behind from the get go, so I decided to have a little fun and let off and hung with him until around 130-135 where I'd floor it and take off until 145-147ish and hang out. He tops out at about 147 and then I'd just push the pedal to the flooor and take her up to 160+.. did it a few times [ph34r] Did it to a new V6 Accord at about 120-130 lol, sat next to him, waited for him to nail it, and then I'd real quick jump in front of him taking off into the distance! lol :violent:

the head has been changed and worked in. upper plenium, crank and racing pulley. chip upgrade, intake, clutch pressureplate and flywheel. upgraded master and slave cylinder.Entire exhaust system from the block back. upgraded spark system.

Still havent reached a dyno yet but I do have slips from Etown. mods are above. put car in the shop 1/14/05 and jc auto is sending the block to get ported and polished. It should be back in like 2weeks and by this time I should have the rods,pistons,rings and crank and racing driveshaft. by february I will put it on a dyno and see. It should be somewhere around 320hp the least now most likely higher. Knew a guy who had a z and only had some headwork done and was pushing 270-280hp. He recently bought an STI(traitor)

ok, mods list helps a bit, but still doen't explain as to why the race went down like this:

remember, the srt-4 ISN'T limited.. I've had mine to 162 by way of GPS
doesn't sound like all that power is making too much of a difference.. a Stock SRT is about 250whp.. and a nicely-heavily modded, stock turbo srt can push around 280-310whp.. with a new turbo, you're looking at well oer 350-550 whp

Sorry, Jspec TT does 300 to the wheels, no idea what the fuck NA Spec does...
It's factory, 300 at the wheels, Jspec, TT.
Intake, exhaust and chip alone can give you 430hp on a TT, so I'm thinking that unless it's a tt with mods, an SRT-4 will spank it.

GReddy Street Power Exhaust - far from the best... Most people run test pipes in order to achieve the power that Jim Wolf claimed to make on his own...
Regardless, that's by far the most expensive I've ever seen a kit like that before...
The ECU might be $450, but test pipes are $200, and the pop charger isn't even $200... And a guage and some pos harness doesn't cost $700.
I'm just posting what I've read...
Even still, 335 at the wheels of a 300ZX should beat the 230 of a stock SRT-4... Weight might make a difference, but 100HP is a lot of weight difference covered...
2970lbs for an SRT 4, and 3200lbs for a 300ZX TT... 200lbs...
200lbs is not equal to a 100hp difference.
Even STOCK if the car made 230hp, an SRT-4 would give the TT a run for it's money, and it'd really be a drivers race between the two...
SRT-4 did 0-60 in what? 5.6? Stock turbo does it in 5.2... Supposedly, but Supercars.net says 6.5s... Quarters are 14.2 for the srt-4 and 15 flat for the TT...
.8s is a drivers race.

yea, I thought factory listed them at like 300 so they lay down roughy 250-260 stock. And intake, exhaust, and chip doesnt add 100 horsepower, maybe like 20 if lucky.

^ you beat me to it.... I want to see this RB26 Inline 6 crammed into the spot on that 300 where the VG30 came out of.....
I saw mention of "porting and polishing the block"... what was meant by that? Unless it's referring to porting out the oil galleys to help oil pressure creep (which gives no noticeable power gain).
I can belive a 13.7 in the 1/4 mile with boltons and a little bit of flow work. I do, however, see alot of bench racing up in here with numbers getting thrown around. Who in this thread actually owns/owned a 300Z that put down the numbers I'm seeing thrown around?

yea, I thought factory listed them at like 300 so they lay down roughy 250-260 stock. And intake, exhaust, and chip doesnt add 100 horsepower, maybe like 20 if lucky.
Turbos are factory controlled boost... Chip increases boost ;)

I saw mention of "porting and polishing the block"... what was meant by that? Unless it's referring to porting out the oil galleys to help oil pressure creep (which gives no noticeable power gain).
You polish and grind the intake/exhaust ports on the heads to match the size of those on the manifolds, thus creating better flow... If you smooth it out, you also eliminate the turbulence caused by the extrusions from the casting process... Shortening the flow distance, and increasing speed, thus, permitting more power due to higher flow.

I know what porting your heads does ( I worked at a cylinder head shop for almost a year as a headbuilder), and how you need to port match it to your intake, but heads aren't your block. Someone said, and I quote "porting the block".

this happened back in august, new on the site. Cruisin in my z from this chick I just hit off, this guy in a Blue SRt4 pulls up besides me, drops back pulls forward and so on while looking over at me. just thinking it was a regular neon at first I go for it, dropped 2 gears from 5 to 3rd and I'll tell you that f*^( srt took off on me so hard I never new that car pulls so hard and we we started at like 45mph and thats when I knew it was a SRT4. got behind him cause we got caught behind a slower car and now were getting on Rt 46 in New Jersey this long straight. put the z in 2nd gear keeping the revs high now and I'm timing him to see when hes about to go around that civic so we can go for round 2. Timed him perfectly. I punch it and I redlined 2nd gear, got up to his right rear quarter panel and were at it. Up in 3rd were at about 90mph now and he kinda pulled a little but when I shifted into 4th 120mph or my driverside mirror was at a little infront of his pass. mirror. End of 4th gear I'm whooping his ass 145mph. I guess those SRt4 are limited to like 135mph. going for overkill I hit 5 gear now in speeds excess 160 thanks to a JWT chip upgrade couldnt read mph gauge anymore, needle stopped at 160. Did 160* for 1/2 a mile while the z feelin like its doing 100mph. By this time Istopped racing the SRt4 and got on the Garden State Pkwy. Pulled into a pit stop so the adrenaline can stop pumping and here comes the Srt. Pulled his window down and asked if I had a Turbo and I said no. He pulled his window up so dissapointed. Poor SRT. If you see a burgundy/blue/whiteor black 300zx in jersey dont think about it thats my crew and one of the zx has a R34 Skyline motor in it.

dude your full of shit i own a 300zx na like yours it wont do a 145 mph in 4th gear!!! not to mention your quote "i was in 5th gear exceeding speeds of 160 mph" you car will not go that fast your tranmission wont let you!! not to mention 5th has no pull. :fawkdance

yeah im pretty sure this guy is full of shit rb26 is kinda long to fit in the vg30's engine bay. the vg30 is already stuffed in there. :bsflag:
not to mention i would put a 4.6 4 valve in if it fit
