This car was a project that my friends started off a junker MK2 we had. Chopped the back to make it a pickup looking sedan. Just wanna trailer it to Waterfest to hopefully stir some interest. Tell me what you think.
(we just started)

ill tell dan to do that next time lol
Looks cool. What else are you going to do to it? Are you actually going to finish it off or just leave it hacked looking? I'll keep an eye out for it at Waterfest this year :)

we are planning to make it clean. (weld back doors shut and clean up cuts) but that is "planned". we all know how projects can sometimes take more time then initially thought. The only problem we have now is, in its current state it is unable to be inspected because its headers only and it is in a "mangled" state. we're gunna have to trailer it.

UPDATE: We gotta problem. With the back half of the car cut off we are having support issues. The car is kinda taco-ing into itself. We need to find a way to support it while being as unintrusive as possible. IDEAS PLEASE!!

What is the idea behind the finished product?

SUB FRAME CONNECTORS!!!!!!! Then run bracing along the bed sides

01-11-2009, 02:43 PM
well...........when we started we didnt have an idea. now that we are missing half the car and its currently sharing storage space w. an expensive show truck we have to consider what we are going to do quickly.
We want to make it into a pickup looking sedan (if that clarifies). Its hopefully going to have a completly hollowed back with 2 seats in front. Basically a car that is kinda mildly boso inspired craziness for the next Waterfest.
Right now its slammed, with the back cut off and a 2' 1/2" extension on the shifter. Just kinda rediculous idk.

01-11-2009, 02:49 PM
boso shifter (yes just about touching the rearview

It is so what bracing have you guys dont to reinforce it ?
slayer9019
01-11-2009, 03:23 PM
ummmm...... nothing right now just the roof and pillar from the front. Its kinda folding longways (like a hotdog). very very very very slowly but noticeable over the time period it sat. I was thinking like a brace across the backs of the seats like a half roll cage for the front area only but idk. we want as least intrusive as possible with support

Yea get come tube and brace it up. Won't need much and you will still have a rear tray if you do it right.

man i didn't notice the shifter before thats rediculious lol i like it
should do some other boso stuff to the car too that would be awesome
like some huge exhausts and maybe a GIANT spoiler
though i'm not too sure what your goin for in the overall look

LOLOLOL i was thinking about it but.....it is gunna be hopefully going to waterfest and we dont know what look would get us some good attention. we were thinking some hood exit exhaust but there is complications on routing it. If anything we might do a double pipe that comes up around the side by the front right wheel.

still no ideas????

you should buy my brothers 1.8t gt30 motor. and throw that in there.
as for the chop, a roll cage in the rear?

Fab up some sub frame connectors and then run some cross bracing under it wherever possable.

At least jack stand the center so it will stop the taco shelling

pull ur damn pants up. lol
That is exactly what I was thinking. I thought pants around your knees was SO out now.
If you want to remove more metal from the back you are just going to end up with a death trap, aren't you? Just cut off the rest of the roof, add structure support, put the back seats back in, and be done.

It's not really a driver per say.....its gunna go to waterfest and maybe be kept. (maybe rally it to death like our cessida.

but we do what it to survive for waterfest (maybe H2O??)

i was like 15-16 when that vid was made....we didnt understand the concept of quality lol
If your thinking of making any sort of soft top for the back, why not put in a roll cage? Then the material can be put across the cage and it will stop it from folding. Also for hood exit exhaust, could you not make your own custom header? Wouldn't be too hard to do.

yea need some kind of roll cage type thing in back. No idea on a soft top..prob not
Hmmm, tried looking around for some pictures of builds like this. Quite a few people do this to drift cars. Found some interesting ones:
Audi TT pickup:

1974 Lincoln Continental pickup:

Mercedes E320 pickup:

Anyways, I'd like to see some more pictures of your build. :p You keepin the stock engine? Should get a lift and some mudders for it. ;)

those are some cool pickups/cars? lol. well we arent gunna jack it up cause its not a very stable platform and that require a bit of work. (eh a bit lazy and this is our first sedan=pickup conversion lol.
We are keeping the stock motor cause we dont have money for a new one. (stock aint that bad)
I said interesting. :p I would never spend the money to do any of that haha. And jackin it up wouldn't be too hard. But as money is an issue would be stupid (putting it on a jeep frame would do and it would fix your tacco problems).

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. He has two to put in a boat.
This guy owns a TON of cars, and is always in the middle of a lot of cool projects. He is the one that got drunk and bought the Dukes of Hazard car at the Kruze auction.
