LAN Party?

Hey, I have a question. When you start up COD4, you can choose the option for a LAN Party. So, I must ask, how do you do that? Is it just getting 2 or more PS3's and plugging them into a single router?

I will likely only have 1 other PS3 (for a total of 2), and a 4-port hardline router. Will I need that router hooked up to the internet, even though we wouldnt be getting onto the regular COD4 servers? It doesnt really matter, Im just wondering if its needed.

i bet you need the internet
the system probably needs some sort of internet authentication or something but who knows
i'll test it out when one of my broke ass friends buy a ps3...

i used to do this with age of empires with my friend so it would just be us playing but i have no idea how it works on the ps3 it's different from AOE

I have no idea to be honest.. I would imagine that you should even be able to do ad-hoc wifi lan parties... but I guess that depends on if the developers were cool like that..
