View Full Version : Quarterracer's Camaro SS
This is Quarterracer's 2000 Camaro SS
This is the fun car. Ever since I sold the Lightning and bought the Crew Cab I've been having a hard time with driving a slow big truck. Don't get me wrong, I love that crew cab but I just needed something a little more fun to drive. This is also the replacement for the Porsche and the Mustang. It looks good and I can beat on this car without feeling guilty about it like I did the Porsche. The Mods are listed so here are the pics:

Can we have an Interior shot or two pls? :wiggle:
I also forgot to mention that I removed the side moldings as well. I'll try to get some interior shots soon for you Bob. It's currently with a friend right now so he can get some more service work done to it for the Power Tour.

That looks sick, your off color center caps bug me though.
Updated and added some pics. The center caps look like they should in some of the newer pics.
Well, it looks like my next mod to the car will be a new rear end and some rear suspension stuff for better traction. I don't know exactly how bad it is yet but I busted the rear end last night at Test-N-Tune in Tulsa.

Damn really?? Thats the 1st ive heard of that happening with under 500hp or not on slicks.
Ohh well, time to make it bulletproof so you dont have to worry about it again. You gonna change the gearing??
I think the previous owner ran the car on slicks quite a bit. They were pretty proud of it running in the 12's on slicks and they made sure I knew about it to try and build value in it. I was kind of expecting it to go soon because it didn't look to good when I did a rear diff service to it. I haven't decided what gears are going back in it but I'll probably let it sit for a bit and save up for a complete new setup and do it right so I won't have to do it again.

Well that explains it then..
Yeah I would save and do it right as well, no use in putting in something thatll just get you buy and end up here again since you know you are gonna beat the hell out of it!!!!
I would offer options however I dont know much about the rears in those cars but im sure DK can help out in this area..

Gorgeous BOSS man I love F-Cars done like that, and for those that dont know BOSS is F-Car lingo for Blacked Out SS.
Thanks. It's been a fun car and I'll be sad when it sells but I know I'll have fun with whatever I get to replace it.
edit: I decided to keep it and found an old Tahoe to use for a daily instead of the Camaro.
Looks awesome man :woo:

Sorry Bob. I forgot to get these for you. There isn't anything to it really. It's all still pretty much stock.

So when do we get to see the Tahoe, I know millions of ways to customize the exterior as well as make it even more daily driver firendly
I'll take some pics of it soon. I didn't think it was worthy enough to put up here but who cares. I'll do it anyway. Right now I'm just going through and changing all the fluids and making sure that nothing is leaking just to be on the safe side since I don't know anything about the history of it at all.

Here's a quick pic I took this morning. It's not cleaned up right now but it isn't to bad. I'm thinking about trying to sell this now because we took in an '01 Denali on trade that I have my eye on.

Denali's are soo smooth
Well I'm getting the Denali and I sold my Tahoe to my dad. The Denali is white and pretty much stock.
I was kinda curious to what the production numbers were on my car so here's what I found. I didn't realize that black was the highest produced on the coupe SS with a 6 speed.
A total of 45,417 Camaros were built for worldwide distribution. 5,975 were convertibles and 8,913 were SS.
6-speeds - 9,012 - 19.8%
#1 41U Black - 8,786 - 19.3%
Camaro SS Coupe with 6-Speed:
4,772 units:
41U Black - 1,591
81U Red - 892
11U Pewter - 718
13U Silver - 619
28U Navy - 573
10U White - 378
71U Sunset Orange Metallic - 1 *
I just pulled these from http://www.camaroz28.com/articles/2000buildnumbers/index.shtml in case any of you were wondering.

Thats funny the RPO code for the black never changed mine is 41U on my 82 Z, where was yours built?
I'd have to check again but I want to say it was built in Canada.

My buddy Franks dad picked up a sweet ass 02 Camaro.....RPO Code.....ZL-1
Just felt like bumping my car. It wasn't showing up because it's been a while since a post was left in here.
do you still have all the pictures from when you covered your truck in painters tape? i was telling a friend about it, but couldnt find the pics
edit: nvm, i found them in your trucks thread
Ok. I probably would've bumped it too but I don't have that truck anymore. I need to take some pics of the Denali and do a thread for it but it's just stock for now.
Hell, I bumped it anyway. I miss that thing and it actually looked pretty sharp in some of the pictures.

So have you decided what your doin with her rear end?
I found another stock third member and put it in a while back so I'm driving it again. I'm going to leave it like that for now. Next thing I need to do is definitely get some relocating brackets and a couple of other rear suspension parts and then probably headers and a tune. It all really depends on whether or not I get my year end bonus for last year or not.
I'm taking it for a quick spirited drive today though so I'm glad that I'm able to drive it again.

Yeaaaaah!
I'll have to take some. It's nothing special though. It's your typical white Denali. It still looks stock. It's nice though. I can play hooky from work and still drive through town without anyone knowing it's me since there's so many out there. Oh yeah. It does have three antenna's on the driver side rear glass lol. One for the old analog OnStar system. One for some old school hands free system the previous owner had and one for the TV antenna for the aftermarket entertainment system.

lol its a comm staton with wheels
lol. I need to get some of those black/blue flag decals for it. Maybe I can get by with speeding around town. Here's a crappy cell phone pic I took the other day. I'll try to get some nice ones in the next day or two.

BTW, here's a pic of my friends Trailblazer SS too. I ordered this for him new in '07. It's a blast to drive especially for an SUV and it's pretty damn quick too.

Yes it was a small block in it. I don't know the details of the car but I know it was built that way. It's a Scarab but I'm not sure of the year but think of it as a conversion car. Really slick car though.

Does he know what she tops out at 1/4mi time?
I've never asked him so I'm not sure. I know he's taken it to road courses but I'm not sure what all he's done with it and I'm sure the small block isn't stock either. He was driving it pretty hard today but I know he wasn't giving it all she had either.

You should check out the GMMG exhaust for the 4th gen F-cars, sounds nasty
I've thought about looking into getting a full exhaust for it. I need to get a new soundclip of my car with the cam and one of my friends LS6 with his true duals.

nice camaro, my buddy has one and he supercharged it, its fuckin fast
I was thinking about an STS kit but I'm afraid of bottoming the car out or running over something and tearing up the piping. If I did keep it long enough I'd probably procharge it or something.

Even better!!
Well I blew up the rear end again in the SS a couple of weeks ago. This time the pinion pretty much exploded and chunks of metal tore up everything else in the housing. I thought I was going to be able to save the differential but after we got the new 3.73's in the third member had a horrible howling sound in it so it's all coming back out again and I'm putting a Strange Engineering differential in it with Moser axles. I also finally decided to go ahead and get some new suspension parts from Spohn Performance to help with my wheel hopping problem.

Tubular end links and adjustable torque arm oooooh yeah!!
Not quite. Not now at least. All I got was the relocation brackets, boxed control arms and an adjustable panhard bar. Hopefully my axles will be here by tomorrow and I can get the car driveable again then I'll try to get the suspension parts on by the weekend if I'm lucky. Unfortunately I have to wait till August to get the car tuned. My tuner is booked up that far out.
