A labor of love for 3 years. Here is a recap of my relationship with my Talon.

Summer '05, I found the decently low mileage (only 103k), AWD 5-speed (which I did not know how to drive at the time) DSM in the most beautiful color. It was sitting in Toms River, NJ. I took it off a nice, young lady's hands for $3,000.

I quickly got to work, as I have been researching and learning about this car for about 2 years. I installed some simple mods:
A clean leather Momo shorty shifter knob

Some Sparco Corsa Pedals
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e65/kordoroy/pedals.jpg
Apex'i N1 Turboback exhaust
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e65/kordoroy/talonrear03.jpg
and a shorty antenna on the roof.

I did some other minor mods, custom yellow fogs, and the front plate relocate....I was content, and happy

I was always around higher horsepower, faster cars however and was always itching to push the car further. The purchase of a simple Manual Boost controller got the ball really rolling. In the winter of 06, I acquired a very low mileage, JDM 4g63 and swapped it in with the help of friends. A few additional parts were added, swapped or taken away entirely.

The work took a while, being out in a friends (JesseGSX) driveway all winter, but we got it done.

Silly, passionate me, I kept tinkering, buying new shit, working on the Talon....

Who would have thought, that little stock 14b turbo could put out almost 300 HP to the wheels!

I still needed to do something I have been wanting to do since I purchased it, get a fresh coat of the factory paint. Here it is the first day out of the shop (as well as getting rid of ricey clear-corners):
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e65/kordoroy/Talon/DSM-new-paint.jpg

and a few taken by Chrischeezer a few weeks afterwards, back in Toms River where I found it.

At the time of those pics, a new, Evo III 16g, exhaust manifold, and 02 housing were installed. It was unturned but would most likely put out another 35-50 HP.

Sadly the car has been off the road for some time. it is sitting in our garage at the moment, awaiting an engine rebuild; the writing of this is actually giving me inspiration to go finish it. After looking at all the hard work me and my friends have put into it, it's sorta making me sad that I have been neglecting it since I bought the Evo.

I hope you enjoyed the story, it looks like it's back to work for me! :thumb:

I wanted to get an AWD DSM but the ones around here that I kept finding were beaten all to hell and I did not want a car to sit for any extended period of time as I needed a DD. So I bit the bullet and got the evo,. However this write up makes me want to go out and see if I cannot find a clean 1g or preferrably 2g AWD eclipse/talon- great work and drive that thing

Sweet DSM man, I've always like the clean lines of the 1st gen Talon/Eclipse/Laser looks like you have a lot of wrench time into her, cant wait to see some track times, what mods wen t into the motor?

, what mods wen t into the motor?

the bottom end is just a stock crank, 6 bolt of course, Wiesco 9.0 pistons with Eagle rods. I'm deliberating whether to build the head or not, due to money issues. I think I am just going to throw the stock head on and get it broken in.

Theres a company out I think it's Boucher racing or something like that but all they deal with is the 4G63 DSM's and some 6G72(3rd gen eclipse,stealth,3000GT) and they have some sick go fast parts, and if memory serves not too terribly hard on the wallet

Yeah, Buschur Racing (http://www.buschurracing.com/) is well known in the DSM and Evo communities. As for cost? As with modding any car it is still expensive. I would love to get this for the Evo:

BR 2.3 Shortblock (https://secure.buschurracing.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21_25_111&products_id=694&osCsid=908e887d10885690eee099fcc36a3a07)

It's not an INSANE amount of money, but for me it would take a little financial planning. Which is why I drive an Evo and not a GT3RS, heh.

Trust me I feel ya, the camaro is pretty much done for now but the truck has a ways to go and anything go fast for a diesel period is expensive and anything with the Gale Banks logo on it is twice as expensive, but worth it though
