Hello all, I am a representative from TS Rally. I was instructed to inform all of the Teckademics crew about the TS Rally, this is a one night rally from Washington, D.C. to Fort. Lauderdale, FL. There is a cash prize for first, second, and third place. There are a total of 40 spots, and now about 10 of them are filled. Right now we are in the middle of changing servers, there is information that needs to be up dated on the site. Once the server change is done, we will fix everything. Here is a link to the site, TS Rally (http://tsrally.no-ip.com/) .
Thanks,

We did not say you need your full drivers licenes, just have one....now if you get cought...that will suck, but find a co-driver and your stright (we do not condon the breaking of any laws)

You shouldn't need to worry about your provisional time restrictions taking effect. On an MD license you can't drive between 12am and 5am unless its for work or emergency reasons.
But I can tell you right now that you could make Ft. Lauderdale in a day. But this guy said in his post that one night is being spent at a hotel in an undisclosed location (if I read that right)...thus you should be off the road well before your time restrictions take effect.
Hmm...hopefully all the road work on I-95 will be done by the time this takes effect. When I traveled from here to Cocoa Beach over Spring Break they were working on 95 from GA all the way to Daytona adding lanes. If the work has been completed, I-95 should be 6 lanes thru GA and 6 lanes from the FL State Line all the way to I-4 in Daytona Beach.
Be aware though....there are plenty of marked and unmarked Camaros that patrol I-95 once you hit NC prepped to pursue drug runners driving tricked out rides..don't think all they got is just a bunch of Crown Vics and Impalas.

there are no stop on the rally, just stright down there, you only stop to get the time stamps and that it....so its balls to the wall, and we leave at night......thats all i can say for now...
But I can tell you right now that you could make Ft. Lauderdale in a day. But this guy said in his post that one night is being spent at a hotel in an undisclosed location (if I read that right)...thus you should be off the road well before your time restrictions take effect.
If there's a cash prize for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd I doubt anyone would be stopping at a hotel to sleep. Mapquest said it takes approx. 16 hours and 25 minutes from DC to Ft. Lauderdale. That means that the faster cars like Dado's could probably make it in like 6 or 7 hours, assuming they don't get arrested.
TSRally
12-12-2004, 03:08 PM
There are no rest stops at all...if you do sleep you lose! its that simple, there are only two stops in every state for time stamps, after that you are free till the next time stamp area....

I thought I heard Tminus Matt say that him and Dado made it one time to the Miami area from NYC in like 18 hours. 6?? Ha, its over 800 miles between here and down there, it will take anyone regardless of the car's potential at least 10-12 depending on how long their fuel stops, the rest stops, and food stops are in addition to any traffic snarls (which there will be probably, its I-95)
Ok, have you seen the Mischief videos? Anyone crazy enough to try to win the cash prize will take the shoulder, etc. to avoid traffic backups.

lol only 10-15 mins for me....get off work, get gas then hop on I-95 south, then on 495 West....the most it has taken me is 20-25 mins around the time i leave (10-10:30)...and that was when they were buling things...my average speed is about 75-85mph...so you do the math...

instead of who gets there first you should stagger the start, do 2-3 cars at a time with a 10-15 minute space in between. Just use the reciepts for the total time of the rally. 40 at once would be a clusterfuck.

I just have a question...with there being a prize for first second and third, this will be classified as a race. What protects the participants from the law?

we thought about that, and well we have a plan since we need to have the Camera crew imbedded(sp) with the group....we will start at a certain part of the highway, and once that group gets to that point its every man for them self...kind of like staying in a line, we split into two-three groups....once we get closer to the starting date we will make sure we have everything sorted out...but that makes sense what you are saying...so I will talk it over with the others and see what they think....any other thoughts/questions can be e-mail to TSRally@gmail.com

no, as in, when the police do find out about this rally, and that there is a prize, it will be considered an organised race. What protects the participants' cars from being impounded, or other actions from the police for participating in a "race" as the cops are going to consider it.

I think I might try and make it if I can find someone to front the cash for my turbos before Jun05. There are always legality loop holes that you can find almost everywhere for everything. If you really wanted to legally keep it a rally and still have pay outs, then make the winner the sponsor of the rally. Take the pot to a charity and donate it in the name of the winner. Give the winner a notarized copy of the donation. Winner gets pot at the end of the year as a tax write off. Thats legal. Ill find another if ya like, most are based around charity or government functions like the VA. Its pretty much a legal launder.

Your class groupings are poorly done. There's a lot of stock turbo/supers that are under 250hp... the Miata Mazdaspeed for example is only 200Hp...
money limits on mods?
Make realistic groupings, none of this helter skelter stuff...
Stock class is stock class is stock class. Give it a horsepower limit if you'd like (250 would be reasonable), but non-engine mods are permitted.
Modified, under 400hp
HO-Stock - stock class, over 250hp
Open - Exotics, engine swaps, blah blah blah
It doesn't need to be elaborate, just fair... I mean really, cylinder limits? Dado's car couldn't compete for the simple sake that it doesn't fit any of your classings, except competing ferraris, when really it should be classed as a open-class vehicle...
Or, better idea, have a classing "board" setup, 5 people, they go along through each car together, and give it a class. Driver's can argue the class they're placed in, and then they can agree, or fit in.
Oh, and a lot of cars don't run on pump gas... AFAIK Dado's car hardly does... Modified supras and such could easily need 100 octane gas...
