View Full Version : 3M CLEAR BRA INSTALLED ON TECK MR2

I highly recommend getting the 3M clear bra for your car. PFTfilms.com just installed a custom bra to Daniel's freshly painted MR2. PFTfilms also sponsor's Dado's M3. You can see first hand what road debris can do to a car without the clear bra in Mischief 3000. Remember how the Ferraris and even Dado's M3 got their front bumpers sand blasted during the Gumball? Reza's Modena protected by the clear bra and the paint was practically flawless after the 3,000 mile rally.
I will get it installed on the banana whenever I get around to painting it again. You can see how bad my front bumper is chipped up in my sig down below. I have had my bumper repainted several times. Wish the bra was around a couple years ago.
PFTfilms does awesome custom work and can work with any bodykit. For further info on this product, contact Skip at 703-944-7076 or check out PFTfilms.com.
Here are some pics of the recent installation:

Looks awesome. It's funny, my paint is so shitty and rough that it doesn't get rock chips (Maaco paintjob). My mom's car on the other hand (Z3) that needs a clear bra.

Too late for my mom's Z3. It's going to be expensive to repaint that big ass hood.

Holy shit, dude. That's cool as hell. Even looking right up close to it, can you tell that it's there?
And even when it get sandblasted, does it ever fade or lose its shine?
Ooohhhh, I never thought about it losing it's shine. That is a good question Juice, because plastic does tend to fade after a while.
Looks good, my dad is getting everything on his M3 touched up and plans on doing one then since he wishes he had when the car was new. So many damn rockchips...

ohh god, don't use that M company's name. they give a bad name to auto body. they don't prep there car right at all and they are stupid as fuck, a buddy took his probe in there and they didn't tape up any of the rubber moldings around the doors and windows, and get this, they pained the glass in the sunroof, not just some overspray, they painted the whole thing, and be drove an hour home on the highway and the paint on the hood was already flaking off in spots.
if you are low on money and need a paint job your batter off dipping a broom in a bucket of paint than going to macco.

Actually my painter didnt spray my bumper very well. Thats why it flaked off. He messed up his hand and kind of through it together for the trip. Its all fixed and I dont have to worry about it now

You could have just sprayed black Rhino Liner on the front clip and called it a day.....silly newbies!!

That really sucks. My paintjob actually was pretty good for the money I paid. They did a good job and taped everything off really well. The problem is that I haven't taken care of it like I should have. Honestly, I'm lazy and I've only waxed it once in the 3 years since I've had it repainted. So I know that has something to do with it.

If you prep the car yourself, sand and primer, a Maaco job isn't that bad....because they don't do that shit, they just spray over whatever you have on there when you brought it to them.
When I took my car to Maaco it needed a lot of body work, popping out small dents, buffing scratches, etc. So they had to sand down most of the car, plus my body kit was already prepped for painting, so my car came out pretty good. But I am a rare case I guess. I also paid for a few extra coats of clear.

Why not Rhino Lining like said above? It would go with the carbon fiber hood/trunklid(engines in back).

Yes, I am 100% I would cover myself in Line-X before it goes anywhere near my car. Unless I get a pickup than I'd coat the whole car in it so I can roll the damn truck and now have much to worry about.

not possable lol...its either you do it yourself and trust your own skills or you pay up the ass for someone else. my friend paints cars, its all in the prep and finish. i've see rattle canned cars that look better than a maaco because they took time with prep and finish.

I was wondering............Did you use a heat gun to smooth it out? If not if you hold it at a distance it would help with the curves don't wanna melt it. When I do most of my tint jobs I have to use a damn heat gun. I miss the old days of the 1980's when windows were flat lol. Been tinting since 1984 god I'm getting old but I still feel 20.
