We are hanging out in the local spot (strip mall) and the usual people are there, which includes this crazy african kid and his 98 Civic EX that has dual exhaust, body kit, underglow, rims, intake, headers. Our other friend roles up in his new 93 RX-7 that has new underdrive pulleys, exhaust, intake, rims. So we head off to this really long backroad and line up, except I took out the african kids civic without him knowing. So we lined up and took off at the same time, Brian in his RX-7 didn't know how to drive it too well and I jumped him off the line, but as soon as he had started poorly, he was pulling past me, and as we went into second he was about 2-3 car lengths ahead, and by the time the race was over he had gotten about 15 car lengths. I thought something was wrong with the Civic because it was extremely slow. It really surprised me at how slow the civic went, but none the less it was fun as hell to watch the RX-7 fly-by. We got it on film too.

Dude you took an African kids Civic and street raced it w/o him knowing?
Also a word of advice, don't streetrace in cars that you have never driven.

I can vouch. EXs are slow as SH*T. Nothing can be done to make them go fast besides tons of money.

I said it was quick, it had alot of mods yo..HKS hooked it up.
I had a Turbo about to go on, but I sold it all to some clown for 25 grand.
I was 100 percent sponsored so I made out on that one.
Got coverd in 3 magazines and was used in a year long Wings West ad campaign. So the sponers were satisfied.
1998 yo, OG

Thats hella wierd. How could you take someone's car without them knowing? By your description of the car it couldn't have been that hard to miss :) . I wanna see the vid, please post it. :)

i know a civic that can beats a RX-

Well yeah, the RX7 stock is pushing 230 HP to the wheels. The Civic Stock pushes somewhere around 100 HP to the wheels. To level the playing field with a stock RX7, that Civic would have to be turbo or very, very well built all motor.

I've seen a bunch of civics that run huge turbo kits pushing 400hp - that would make it pretty easy to beat a stock rx7 I would believe.

Rebuilt?!?!? He must be a genius to rebuild that engine... usually they just put a new one in.

3rd Gen RX7's are easy to rebuild, probably easier than a piston engine. As for the starter, :) just look on the left side of the transmission on the bell housing. Two bolts does the trick.

It's just not the right car for me - I dunno how to explain it really but I just don't think it's the right match.

you just usually replace the apex seals

slimBoost
08-06-2004, 01:52 PM
But to replace the apex seals requires the whole engine to be taken apart doesn't it? When you get down to tearing down and rebuilding an engine it sometimes is easier to just drop out the bad one and put a new one in. At least then you can get a street ported engine with all sorts of goodies in it.

Thats what I'm saying, the dealerships around here just put another engine in.
