This is a cosmetic modification that will make those rusted calipers look much better. This is pretty much manditory if you have new wheels that you can really see through, but it looks great with the stock wheels as well
what you need:
Brake caliper paint, or engine enamel in the color your your choosing.
Primer - I used Rustolium primer meant for rusty surfaces

Tools:
Wire Brush
Simple Green cleaner
News Paper
Floor jack and jackstands
Tire Iron

Step One

Loosen the lug nuts on the wheels you are going to be removing.

Jack up either the front or back, depending on what you are painting. Place a jack stand under the car, then jack up the opposite side.

Finish removing both front, or both rear wheels. (You could just do one side at a time if you wish)

Step Two Use the wire brush and Simple Green to remove as much of the surface rust as you can

Step Three :
Get your newspaper and tape and mask off everything around the caliper. Make sure you mask off enough of the car that you don't get overspray on your nice paint.

Step Four: Spray on a few coats of primer to give the paint a good surface to bond to.

Step Five: After letting the primer dry for a few, spray on a few coats of your desired color. Multiple thin coats are better than a thick heavy coat that will run and drip

Step Seven: Reassemble the car Be sure to torque down the lug nuts to about 100 ft/lbs, as you don't want em to fall off when your driving! Also, be sure to lower the vehicle before trying to drive off! :)

Here are the photo i have done.

How about resizing them so they arent so ungodly large and take up so much bandwidth.

works for me.. I did the calipers on my Neon SXT a while ago, same technique though.

You can't tell, but it's 4-wheel disc brake. The car's an SXT.. the only neons that come with 4wheel disc brakes are the R/Ts and SRT-4s.. I asked my dealer about it, and he said that had no idea why the car had 4-wheel disc brakes... just a little side note that I thought was kinda weird.

i used just normal red high temperature paint! you can git it from most hard wear stores! just get a small brush and slap it on i rubbed my calipers down a little with wire brush and then applied the paint looks amazing and it lasts no flaking or anything! use common sence and you'l be OK! i dunno if you have hammorite in the US! you probs do! i used silver hammorite on my motor bike! its NOT heat resistant, so it stinks for the first day or so and then it is fine after that! because it isnt heat resistant it reacts and changes colour! it goes, gold where it is realy hot and then a blue/silver where its just pritty hot! i did my exhaust and breaks and it looks Exactly like titainium! il try and find an old pic!

I tried high temp b4. It was like water.

I picked up on a trick in the show scene. You can use any paint you want, as long as you 1st use high temp. primer and then clear with high temp. clear. I used the metal cast blue also, with the silver base-coat.

Eh, high temp paint is nicer for the price and convience of DIY. Powercoating is cool though just more of a hassle.

Powdercoating is in a class of its own. More durable, less likely to gunk the slide rails or piston(s) of your brakes, and resists brake dust alot better. Wider range of colors and effects too. But true, its not a DIY step, but it should be mentioned that it IS an option.
