For no reason what so ever i just randomly create splash pages or website layouts. I dont use any of them nor do i plan to (At the moment), i guess i just do it for practice and to work with my ideas. I just throw Uneek Visions on there for something to work with.

Feel free to work with any of the ideas if you would like. If you want me to try and create something for ur site just let me know.

On this one the "power button" is your enter button. It wouldnt be lite up green until you scrolled over it.

This design can go multiple ways. It could be used as a simple splash page where you just click anywhere on the page to enter. You could also involve some flash into it where the images get brighter and darker on their own. Or randomly change or pop up in random places on the screen. Or you could also use this as a photo gallery in itself with some flash and design it so where when a user scrolls over the image the picture will load right on the screen over everything. . A lot could be done with this design. The "Design" part in the name doesnt really fit since its all car photos, but the pictures can very easily be changed, you get the picture.

you don't need flash to accomplish that effect described in the last on, Javascript will do that aswell

Layout which never really got finished. The sizing of the pictures isnt right and more stuff was suppose to be added. Very basic description just to fill in the area.

Speaking about this...Is it easy to add something like this anywhere on the page? For exaple lets say i have some text on the top and bottom and some other random images, can i put this in the middle of the page easily? Or do i need a page dedicated to it? I dont have much knowledge about this so bare with me..

it essentially will be its own page wherever you put it
to have it in the middle would probably mean you need a top, bottom, left, right, and middle frame

there are things called iFrames which i have used before, I dont really remember much about them, but i'm pretty sure they can just be put wherever

go to Google and do some research on those

ahh ok...I would like to involve something like that on the page but have other things based around it...Thats more or less flash....I need to go to the book store and pick up some books so i can learn this stuff...Im sure i can get the info online but i find it easier when i have a book with an index vs going back and fourth to multiple webpages.

Same with Java, and all programming, I know enough generally to understand whats going on, but I can't do everything, lol

If you don't have Dreamweaver you should get it, I like it quite a bit for web site creating

What I got is Macromedia Studio MX, which has all the programs in the Studio: Freehand, Flash, Dreamweaver, etc. I only use Flash and Dreamweaver

Ok so I have been running around all day but now I get to chime in :)

The designs are pretty cool, but as far as the use fo Java Script I try to stay away from it as much as possible. Reason being it reacts differently in some of the old browsers, also alot of people turn it off now to help protect against malicious code.

I would say the key things to learn would first be CSS/PHP/VB/ASP/and ActionScript (flash hard code)

Flash is good to know and if you understand basic coding principals it is not hard to pick up.

Personally I use several programs I have Macromedia (or should we now call it Adobe) Studio 8, Photoshop and Illustrator CS2 and several a PPC Program for Pixel Graphics (just easier to do on the PDA for me)

Oh another thing DO NOT USE FRAMES, they do not relate well with search engines, and make it difficult for people linking back. Frames are evil and only slightly les evil is a ton of nested tables to set up the design.

Flash is cool and getting better but you really need to know action script to do it properly so that it loads fast. You can use the wonderful drag and drop and timeline bar but when it comes down to it the best effects are always going to be actionscripting ;)

Borders and Barnes&Noble have some great books out there.

I would like to do this kind of stuff, but I work too damn much to do anything other than play games on my PC at home. (I work with 2 really nice computers all day, but I really don't want to look at one when I get home! lol)

Def keep learning. The work is good, and you at least have a good library of reference stuff to check on when you need it.

Like you said, i have things to go back and use as reference points. I look at my older work vs my newer work and i can deff see an improvement in the quality of work and the ideas in some of the pieces. Still have a lot to learn though when it comes to actually putting pages together. These are just ideas, getting them to layout and work properly is a different topic...I can splice a page in PS and put it together in Dreamweaver in HTML code, some may call that the "pussy" way of coding but it works for now until i learn other ways lol...

At least you can see your improvement. I would like to learn those type of programs, but I am so immersed in the heavy duty 3D engineering/modeling programs that I use for work that it would just get in the way.

Darker colors I guess. I like more intimate/casual than the 'techno'. I mean, lol, the main page is a picture of a prison door! lol. I am going to make a side secton for wedding photography though, and would like to have a link to that, maybe with some kind of a cool integrated wedding ring or something.... lots of ideas, do you have gmail? if so hit me up on there l3it3r@gmail.com

They just come in handy when you have one color you know you want to use but you need a good idea for other colors to compliment it. I can't tell you how many times I had referenced one of these two sites for color help.

I came up with this today after a lil work...Ive been painting my bathroom, so ive been going back and fourth and havent really taken much time to actually sit down and work straight...So my ideas have been mixed...Anyway...

L3it3r hasnt really given me much info as to what he wants the layout to look like so i just designed something real quick based on my ideas. So i cant really say this idea is based on HIS ideas. Wasnt even sure if he wanted a full display or somewhat of a centered display like this.

-Bottom of page got cut off

-Colors can easily be changed, text is just placed in boxes for display. Text color can be changed easily as well. Simple fixes here.

-Box on the upper right could be a animated gif slideshow to show ur newest photos or most favorite ones. Or possibly display a banner or a short video clip of something. Or you could create a file to flash between photos as well as quickly display recent updates to galleries and etc.

-Half circle on the top right is an idea that im not really sure about. I just left it there for the time being. Simple text to fill it up.

-Gallery links on the left could be altered with a script or roll over buttom...You can make them totally black and then have the image "lite up" when scrolled over or you could darken them just a tab bit and have them get brighter when scrolled over.

-I forgot to add an "About" link at the top. Sean (Buttsock) suggested i move the half circle and the "home, galleries...." links over the the left hand side.

Realistically you could do away with the big contact block to since you have a link for a seperate contact page. Just put the address, phone and email in small text in the page footer.

Anyway looks good ;)


BTW here is a nice trick you may want to use some time, it is easier than creating heading images for each page but lets you use a font not universal to all machines.

The gallery links with the animated gif is a good idea too...

The big contact block being deleted makes sense..As i said before, ive was painting a bathroom for half the day...A bathroom with no windows, had to keep the door closed too due to the dog...Paint fumes did a number on me lol
