So I was on my way to Office Depot to pick up some stuff last night and I pull up next to a nice silver E36 M3. Had some nice wheels and was lowered, but nothing else really done to it. So, as a precaution, I turn off my traction control, but I wasn't looking to do anything (under a two month probation for racing). Anyways, the light turns green and the girl (that's right, a chick was rocking the M3 ;)) guns it. So I decide to give in and punch it and got even with her through second. Then third comes and I pull about a car on her. We call it quits after that. I was surprised that my Jetta could take an M3.
You know girls don't know how to drive

Shit in my Jetta I used to run them all the time and they'd get so pissed. "You're Jetta just beat my M3, noo..."

Heh, yeah. I just thought they might be faster than that. I do have an upgraded turbo, but I thought they were a bit faster. I still haven't tried the E46 M3. I've beaten them through the corners, but I haven't raced one on the straight.

No way.. E46 is a handling monster.. On the straight they eat me alive. My buddy's got S1, new FMIC, 255 fuel pump 650cc injectors, turbo back, intake and a piggy back and he'll run away from them, but without loads of mods, the new E46s are just too damn fast..

As a precaution you turned OFF your traction control? What kind of HP are you pushing??

E46 M3 with an average driver is only running a 13.5ish ... give or a take a little. In my jetta I was running 13.6-13.9 all day long with just a chip and maneul boost crontroller and a few other odds and end mods. I've raced a few and with a good launch, i'd take them if we were running stop light to stop light racing, anymore then that, they'd start to walk away from me b/c of the freaking hp they have! And handling wise, if you took one in the curves that's nuts. I had a bit of suspension work done and they do a pretty good job of taking me. I don't drive my jetta much now, but I'd take WS-6 Trans Ams and SS Camero and what not all day long. That was always my fav, picking the v-8's cuz they'd get so pissed. "They're no replacement for displacement" .... "well my turbo is doing a pretty good job!!"....

I don't know what he's pushing, but if I tried racing with the ASR(traction control) on, you actually lose power ... not sure why. Matter a fact, most ppl I know turn off they're traction control, including all the bimmers I know.

With the ASR on, if the car loses traction and the wheels spin, the car automatically cuts off the fuels and the car sputters. Even with my new ecu, it doesn't over ride it. So if you race with it on, the car will lose power the minute the wheels spin. As for HP, I'm pushing 220-230 with about 270lb./ft. of torque.
Stock M3's have 240HP and 236lb TRQ.

in that case, an e46 will walk away from you probably, because those are similar numbers to my car

To the crank...
PPl with the same mods as me were putting 215whp down and like 240 wheel ft lbs. That's all very dependant on what chip you have, but ... it can be done, and there's actually a lot of ppl with those numbers with very simple mods.

Yeah, but the driver makes the car, not the other way around. :)
As for 1080Me's comment, it is very simple to make power with the 1.8t. With just the REVO stage 1, intake, exhaust, port and polish my car put down 200whp and 220lb/ft torque. Now I've got a K04 and an FMIC which I'm still waiting on the custom piping.
When that's all done I can't wait to play with SRT-4s and WRXs. :D

I was driving down a fairly long straight road in my hometown, Noosa, when this little punk in a resprayed and bodykitted (stock engine) civic pulls up next to me, revving his ring out in 2nd. We were only doing about 20km/h because the road is full of 2 metre (about 6.5') speed bumps/pedestrian crossings every 30 meters or so.
I wasn't out for a race, but he pulled next to me and wound his window down, and as we went over the next speed bump he gunned it. I was expecting it and I had my hand on the shifter, so I slammed it into 1st and gunned it also.
It had been raining earlier, and I overtook the poor kid while I was still in Wheelspin :P
An obvious victory, but I was the real loser when the cops pulled out of an alleyway that we just raced past.
They let him go but followed me around for about 5 minutes, then on come the lights.
I pulled over and they pulled up next to me, parked on the road. He wound his window down and said, "We're watching you boy, we clocked you at 160 in a 60 zone last night, just know that you're blacklisted. Besides, with 2 jetski's and fuckin hot car you should be shaggin your arse off at the moment. Go home and terrorise your woman instead of my STREETS!"
with that he did up his window and pulled off.
Me and my buddy were speachless. We couldn't stop laughing even though i just found out i was blacklisted.

Dude, i'd run E36 M3's all day long in my Jetta ... and that was just with a chip and manuel boost controller.
I wouldnt be surprised if an E36 M3 was taken by a jetta. But as for an E46 I wouldnt belive that for a heart beat. Go ahead throw numbers at me I dont care. I wanna see video.

Well it's not a Jetta 1.8t but it's an Audi 1.8t, which in fact is even slower with the same mods b/c it heavier. So here's the Video you asked for.

The e46 m3's aren't all that fast ... they're certianly quick but for the horsepower the have, it should be balling out. A 1.8t on stock turbo with typical mods can run with E46's all day.

E46 not fast:glare:come on man they are mid low 13 second cars stock. i believe you beat a stock E36 with a female driver. typical mods for a 1.8T is chip, exhaust, intake. you will not be running with E46's all day long.

I guess I should clear this one up. Yes, I beat an E36 M3 in a straight line drag. I beat an E46 around a road course. My Jetta couldn't hang with the E46s in a straight line race, but with my suspension, I could beat them in a road race. It really did depend on the driver and I have a lot of seat time.
