dude. i was gonna do the same a couple years back. if you look into the costs of this you'll need about 200k start-up cash. That is, cash. Also, I think you'd have some problems using the teckademics name.

It does cost alot of cash for any brick n morter business.
In the Auto Industry you would need a fair amount of money.
You have to pay upfront for product.
After awhile accounts might give you credit terms.
No offence, but we would only lend our name to a largly funded business.
This would insure we got paid for the use of the name and to make sure the shop was going to be a huge business and reflect well on Teck.

If you had a small shop we could help you get Teck product.
Call it something original.

but sean, i was think it might not be a bad idea for you to open up a distibution center on the east coast. i was thinking you could open it up like a community shop. sell and distribute teck products, as well as allow people to buy memberships, to be allowed to come in and get discounts on products, plus you could have a garage set up in the back for people to work on their cars. take a insurance would be a lil steep, but i've never seen this done. it would really build up teck as a community. could also have a dyno in the shop for members only.

07-31-2004, 02:02 AM
that was my idea.. open up a shop have us run it.. have you supporting us , sponsor the hotest rides on the streets.

it would be awsome..

everyone from teck could stop..we would get made product sellege out here...

i think we should have a gas pump.. lmao ..

special sell on thursday..or tuesday..lol

07-31-2004, 02:10 AM
shit we start a membership here . to help get money .. and were off.. each one of us who throws in would have ownership..

i mean .. i know technicians that could make dreams come true..
i used to work at this Car shop down here and the motto was .. you dream .. we build it.. Teckademics could embark on the country wide .. exclusives with this shop.. we could hold barbaques and shit.. have teck days..we could actually make fortunes with this.. hey maybe dustin and dado could drop some knowledge on this..

im dead fucking serious..

dude...like i said, i've been through this all before. the hold up is insurance is a bitch. i priced it up, and i could get a steel building made for 14k, a dyno for like 30k, but could also renmt to own, so it would keep the cost down. but running a shop of this kind take all your time, its not just a 40 hour per week job, more like 80 hours per week. but it would be badass to have a club type membership shop. think it would keep the insurance down a bit, since everyone would "own" the place. Every member would have to buy a set amount of shares.

FiRe_OpTiKzİ
07-31-2004, 02:31 AM
i mean .. shit.. i'll check around here for some shit and get back but if we all bought a share.. we could make it happen i see and understand your saying but how you think . auto solution got started... the started from a thought...

and there still running there the top autoshop in virginia and 7 cities area...

but you know. if certain people were interested in having a place where people could come together and meet, hang out, work on cars, they could also have a production studio room in the back of the place. 8)

when I opened my shop, for the first three years I pretty much had to be the only employee. rule #1 is never hire your friends to work when your starting out because they don't understand that every dime that comes in goes right back into the business for survival purposes. It is a very rough and competitive field and if you are planning on trying this in a large city multiply it by ten, It is easier to open a shop in a rural community because the supply is alot lower. Good luck and before you commit to anything, heavily research every posable aspect imaginable. Advertising is not cheap and for like a dollar bill size ad in the yellow pages will run you around $500 per month alone.

If you get this thing rolling, I'd be interested in buying a share of the company.

Yeah, there just too many other car companies that are already established for you to try to compete without a loss for the first few years till you have a solid customer base, ya know? Sponsoring cars could help your company but I wouldn't sponsor a car untill you guys are up and running.

If you opened up shop in NOVA (Fairfax area), I wouldn't mind coming down and working on the weekends as a parts salesman (I have experience).

We sell through licenses you guys, they handle all the sales and crap.
If you have a shop, contact our licensees and they will sell to you.
I don't do any production, not even DVD's we don't touch anything.
It leaves us mobile.
People think Teck is some big operation with some huge sales staff, a big building packed full of product..not like that.
We are a couple of execs on laptops making deals..
We have a film crew who does werk 24/7.
We spend alot of time looking at deals, and approving products.
Although we might be moving into a larger arena soon, where it is all in-house. If we were in-house it would make sence to have a retail operation.
Remember the Auto Aftermarket industry is still in the "Tommy Boy" days.
It's run by jobbers, very old school/mom n pop..
The reason e-tail does well with aftermarket is becuase of the jobbers failure to really produce a quality grass-roots distribtuion operation, and it does not really help when most grass-roots shops are run by mecanics who don't know shit about business and often go out of business, so jobbers and companies expect 100% cash upfront for new business.
What we need is a good e-tail operation for Teckademics.
It's like our clothing compnay, we have no core shops to sell too, so we have to go to big retailers, there is no core distribution in the Import scene, It reminds me of the skate scene in the early 90's. The shops were small and carried 90% hardgoods, Now the shops are huge corporate chains with 90% softgoods.
The person who is in the lead of this change in the Import Industry will be very rich someday. Oh could it be..us..maybe.
We are looking more deeply into the Action Sports/Import cross over.
Some people have claimed that they are doing it to, but I have yet to see it, Teck is from the Action Sports world and that carries alot of credability in the industry.
It has to be done right, thats all. We will be hooking up with some big chains and open this shit nationally.
So opening one distribtuon center is not the plan..
Business 101 over for today boys.

i wasnt thinking of opening one the whole time.. i was thinkin if we could get one started on the east coast we could move one to the west coast..

Ok, Go set up your shop, we get 10% of everything for using the name, so you owe us a 19K advance right now! Dude for real that's how it works. It's costs to use the Teck name under license..
It's better for you to make a shop and just be an authorised dealer.
Then there are no licnese fees.

Location is very ideal for a small setup shop. Somewhere near a dense group of your target age and interest group is very important as well.

dude, anyways. a shop wouldn't work. even in the hamptonroads area, soo many other shops alkl competeing for the same dollar, some are gonna be shutting down soon cause of it. What would work is a membership club, car club type of deal. the members all buy shares, have yearly dues. it'll split the running cost of between the members, plus on top of that you can sell some teck gear outta it. could even do sunday meets there, cookouts.

Dude there are ways around using the name for a little while. After you get up and running then talk to teckademics. But in the mean time use a diffrent name like "Teck & Tune" because now you are not using the teckademics name but We all know what you mean.

Uhhh, I'm pretty sure this is called "TeckForum" and anything referred to as "Teck" is pretty consistant with Teckademics.

but also, isn't teckademics in the urban dictionary as a spoken word? so by saying teck and tune, he would be using the word teck as a abbriviation of the spoken word.
