it's good to see that you're figuring out the small problems on your own.. I think that If you run into a serious technical problem, deffinately post it up here.

alright Chris, since you havent answered me through AIM i guess best way is through here.... i have a problem, i wrote text in a template frame deal, and when i saved it and all i put it into the video under Video 1B then it didnt work, but then i put it into Video 2.. there the movie goes and the text will show with a full black background, and then when it finishes the movie will keep going skipping w.e the Hamann piece took... how do i get it to mix together,.. while movie is going, get the font to be there....? thanks Chris or whoever may answer this!

Sorry about not gettin back to you on AIM, I always have it set to away and only check it from time to time, and you've signed off before I get a chance to get back.

Here's a real simple explanation http://www.ehow.com/how_14450_add-text-over.html

you might want to add a few tracks.. I never use track 1 at all personally.

I just downloaded Adobe Premier and decided to give it a try.. But I don't understand anything of it :) Are there any walkthroughs or something out there? :) Or some forums etc where newbies can learn?

There is like sooo many buttons:) And I've never edited a video before. So I guess Adobe might not be the easiest program to start with.. but oh well..

But I was thinking of maybe if there was a walkthrough to edit a simple movie or something. Just to get me going and maybe learn the basics.

OK I am having problems with my premiere and other video software....

I am using my laptops built in firewire card its a TI OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller, when I try to preview video or play something I captured in Premier or MovieMaker for that matter it flickers green and black or it will like show the first frame flickering with the video playing behind it. I have looked online and it seems to be some kinda problem with the firewire card and software or something. I updated all drivers.

But if I open on the the DV movies I capture with like MediaPlayer it plays just fine... But I mean we are talking 25MB a second. I cant edit or render anything cause I cant see the friggin video... The video is fine cause it works fine on my desktop but my Motherboard took a shit and I am kinda broke right now... Wanted to get some clips done from last years but I cant seem to have anything go my way right now.

I am using premier 6.02 I think it is and MovieMaker 2 both are doing the same damn thing.. Any ideas please help...

don't get premiere pro, just stick with premiere 6.5
I use whatever I have access to. I'm going to buy the new Sony HD 1080i camera sometime this spring/summer. I HAD a panasonic 3ccd PV-GS120 but it was stolen, and we use many many sonys (to include a PD150 from time to time) and an autoxcam system.

quite the collection of cameras, i have some lower end sony and jvc cameras but my most used one is my GL-2.
yea i was looking at the the HD sony myself i like the hybrid flip open screen on the function handle, very nice to have for those really low shots.

Where can i get 6.5 for free and not the trial version,im a videographer is crisis!!!

WORD OF THE WISE : you could have the most expensive camera in the whole wideworld but if you dont know how to manipulate the functions then your not really doing much of anything except this -> :banghead:

I have a question..
i do the movies for euromelee.com with premier.
I currently use the built in mpeg encoder. works ok for online downloads. Ive been doing the site for a few years now, and its pretty standardiezed, but i see all these new codecs out there, primarily Xvid seems to be the best compression with quailty. However, ive seen a lot of good WMV movies lately with excellent resolution and a decent download size.. I am using premier 6.5 as i do not like the interface change with premier pro.. are there built in plugins i can get that will allow me encode xvid or .wmv? I have tried all the Xvid encoders, and it doesnt seem to work as well as the built in compilers in the adobe program.. also when i encode the DV versions, it makes them in AVI. Encore transcodes them into the right DV to burn DVDs (i think its M4p or somethign?), but since theyre enocded in .avi, its hard to use them with other programs (like on a mac).
anybody have any ideas on how ot make things a litle easier for min those aspects?
Thanks in advance

Im using 6.5, and i use the adobe mpeg encoder, VCD... the quality is kind of shitty, but the size seems ok.

Im tyring to encode in somethign like Xvid. the quality is so much better, and the size is low.. for some reason all the xvid encoders i use are not compatible with the DV avi that premier outputs.

I have a question,

I own a Sony DVD Camcorder, you know, the kind that burns video straight to dvd. If I put those videos onto my computer, they are in "Video_TS" DVD format.

How do I change these videos to WMV format so I can put them onto the internet, etc? Can Adobe do that?

Sorry! Lol, get a nice MiniDV cam.. Sony is pretty much your best bet in the cheap arena, and up top.. cannon makes a nice one, but sony is still the better one IMO (PD150 or PD170)

in my opinion they higher end cannons and sonys are your best bet for making good films, the color and quality on lower end cameras just arent enough, they make the film look too washed out and old.

these cameras im talking about are about the $1,000 mark and above, the dvd cameras are just too difficult, if you want to get into videography and editing more get a decent editing program,a firewire ccable, firewire hardware and a good computer that can hold all your video information atleast 200gb harddriver but id suggest getting en external harddrive incase the computer conks out, atleast you have all your files on a seperate harddrive, and just get a computer that has a dvd burner if you want to make dvd's.

i use a HP 519J with Intel Pentium 4, 3.6Ghz and 512mb of memory,200gb hard drive and a 250gb external hd, with a lightscribe dvd burner and cd burner with optional surround sound speaker hook ups in back with 3 1394 IEEE hook ups for multiple camera hookup's.

took me awhile to figure out how and what to buy, lots of money was wasted b/c i didnt have someone helping me with decision making,so b4 you buy anything please consult someone with experience otherwise itll be a mistake that cant be undone.

hope i helped in someway idk, if you got any questions please send a message my way and ill be more then happy to help you,i usually do family outings and just random videos, i made a video that consisted of a bathroom ,some free time and a zipzap ill pot the link so you can see it, the people i have showed it to thought it was hilarious.
>>ZipZapMagic (http://www.freewebs.com/vtctde8/epademics/Untitled.wmv)<< just right click on the link and click "Save Target As" then save it to your desktop or folder, then send me a message letting me know what you think of it.

heres another one, its called ParkFight (http://www.freewebs.com/vtctde8/epademics/parkfight.wmv) it was made in like 2001 with a cheap sony camera.

Hey thanks a lot! Sorry, I didn't see this before, there is a lot of useful information here that I'll hold on to,

I finally got my camera working the way I want it to, apparently my camera downloaded its software onto my computer when I 1st hooked it up a long ass time ago, and ever since then, I hook it up, and it said no software found, and I had all kinds of problems. But I did a search on my computer and found that crap, and it is able to do the conversion into MPEG video (oh yeah, I did feel like a dumbass after all that too). So, at the time, it made my day :D. So now I'm working on some stuff from Hot Import Nights in DC. Nothing fancy, but somethin.

About that ZipZap video, its pretty cool. The editing, the colors, and the visual effects were pretty cool. I haven't watched the 2nd one yet though.

***So know my only question is, I am working on that HIN-DC video, and its not done yet, but I want to turn what I have done so far into a video on my hard drive that I can watch to see if everything is flowing right. I am using Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5, and the preview pane isn't the greatest. So, Can I create the video onto my hard drive, and still have the project in Premiere to do additional editing?***

well i have no experience with adobe premiere but do you want to upload this to a webserver or to tape or DVD?

if its to upload to a webserver just save in a stream or web format,
other then that i'd check for an update on the software its usually free and can clear some problems up and if there isnt contact someone that deals with revisions so maybe they can clear that up in the next revised update

lol idk im a bit tired thats all my brain could come up with so far.

I have a problem, when I make movies, the video comes out good, but for instance. I did a firework show, and what im doing is having the picture show, and then the video of the firework. However, when I add the picture it zooms in on it, whether its standard mode, or widescreen mode. How can I fix this?
