i have beem thinging about removing the back seat from my car, i never have anyone sitting in the back seat, so i don't really need it back there, and i thought that it might help in handling, tire wear being reduced, gas mileage and acceloration increased.

this is not in the saturn, it is in my Firenza. so is it worth it, and is it not worth the trouble of taking it out?

Not really sure how much "Trouble" it'd be. In my car there are 2 screws for the top half of the seats and 2 for the bottom. Really straightforward, but I dunno about your car.

Some groups consider removing the interior pieces of any car that isn't a dedicated racer as "rice." I don't. Go for it. F*uck those extra passengers.

I know some kids who have taken their cars interiro's and gutted everything. Everthing. I have heard mixed things, my freind Rick said his accord felt less sluggish but from other people I have heard that it dosen't make a huge difference. So it might be worth it, it might not, go with whatever you wanna do.

I have personally thought about taking out my backseats, but that's just because I hate having more than two people in my car.

take em out and if you have a system mount it backwards facing into the cabin of your car so the subs are where the back seat were.

In my own opinion, it's just not worth it if you aren't going to professionally race the vehicle and extract every ounce of performance from it. Take the weight to power ratio before and after and that should tell you how much more horsepower will be needed to yield the same results. I think you'll find it's not too much of a difference. I put the entire interior into a turbo civic hatch that I'm selling and it couldn't have weighed more than 25~30 pounds. Not much of a difference for something that comes shy of 2100 Ibs with 300 wheel horsepower; it’s still fun regardless of the 30 pounds.

I'm sure the higher end cars like BMW have sound deadening material and the sorts, just got to see if it's worth it.

Steven

You aren't going to notice the difference... till you need to take 3 additional hot biatches to a party, then I promise you will.

How heavy are your back seats? Most back seats aren't heavy at all... so you won't see any difference. If your gutting for performence, you need to take it all out. Every 100 lbs you take off the curb weight, you should shed about a tenth of a second(1/4 mile). This is a rule of thumb.

it is mostly dirt, but there is a little rust around where the seat belts hook on.

i think i'm going to get some of that spray on bed liner stuff and spray that stuff all over the metal, that way it won't get wet and start to rust anywhere elts.

EDIT: well i did, i got a car of bed liner and it turned out pretty good

I hear that bedliner stuff is good for such things. Rust is my enemey right now. My car is too heavy to even bother with gutting. My car is gonna be strictly for getting around, so I need to keep the carpet in the truck, and the backseat. Things would be easier if I could unload that 50+ pounds of flooring out of the trunk.
