Lansing, Michigan -- Car Show -- June 17th -- Tokyo Drift

Three years ago when 2Fast2Furious came out, the Lansing guys put on a car show at the Celebration Cinema. Yeah, I know, the movie was iffy at best. But let's admit it, we all saw both of them and enjoyed them to a certain extent because it's about something we love.

But regardless of the movie, we had a great turn-out and we want to do it again. You may or may not like Tokyo Drift, but it doesn't mean we can't put on a great show.

Alright, so what are the details? Right now, we're in the process of talking to Celebration Cinema. My friend and I were there yesterday, and the manager on duty said it was a great possibility but we would have to talk to the operations manager. Everything should be finalized in the next few days.

Last time we did it, they gave us the lawn right by the main entrance, a section of the parking lot roped off for our use, and free movie passes. This time, we'll be asking for no less.


So here's how things will be handled.

This is a real show, at a real business establishment. They are going us free movie passes and roping off a section of the parking lot (Celebration Cinema gets jam packed, so giving us like 50 spots is no small thing.) Therefore, if you want to participate, you will be expected to stay the whole day.

Kevin will be talking to Hooter's which is a stone's throw from the theater regarding catering and/or sending over the Hooter's girls for photo shoots with the cars.

At this time, the plan is to start the show at noon and have it done by 9 PM. Everyone will be expected to show up on time so that we can arrange the cars. We're going to try to put 4-5 cars on the lawn right by the main entrance for maximum exposure, and the rest of the vehicles will be arranged in the parking spots right by the main entrance. After a final tally of the cars signed up, Kevin and I will decide how we will arrange them. Once that's done, it's like just any other car shows/meets. We hang out and have fun, and when the moviegoers come around to check out our cars, we show off our pride and joy.

Throughout the day, we will divide our entire group into several smaller groups to go see the movie. SECURITY will be critical during the entire time, because we do not need some jackass trying to break into our cars or vandalize them. While a group is inside seeing the movie, the rest of the group will be expected to watch over their cars along with their own. While you are seeing the movie, the rest of us will be watching over yours. At the end of the night, we pack up and leave.

The East Lansing guys will most likely go to the Sears parking lot or the Shaw ramp as they always do on the weekends. Out-of-towners will be more than welcome to come; it'll be nice to see different cars for a change.

It is absolutely free. My friend and I, who are setting this up, are not trying to make money. We just want to throw on a good show and a good time.

As far as looks are concerned... here's the truth. If your car is focking sick, you will get a lawn spot. If not, it'll be with everyone else's car which is no bad thing. :)

Well shit thats no good, I just got all my buddies to take that day off. Let us know whats up. Right now though I have My car, my brothers truck, a buddies civic that is done, and another truck (that is not done, lol) and someone elses civic that is crap looking, (hey hes working on it. )oh and another civic that has some engine work to it. And a Caviler that has rims and engine work. So thats 7 cars. And we are all excited about the idea. Dont kill our dream, lol.

THE SHOW GOES ON! We are set with NCG. The 17th, they want us there from 2-7pm. Anything before and after that is up to us. I want to have everyone there before 2 though so we can set up the cars.


If you are for sure coming, PM me - the theater is asking me to get a confirmed list -- if you could include your license plate # for their liability reasons I would appreciate it. I have to send him a confirmed list by next weekend.

We'll post up more as far as logistics and when to get there soon.

Okay I have good news, I am comming and bringing a total of three cars with us, but with 4 people. My brother broke his truck again, so he is riding with me. What do we do about food and tickets? Do we buy them when we get there immediatly or just when we figure out what show we want to attend?

Food, we're still thinking about it. We might bring out a grille, but if not, the theater is located within an outdoor mall, so there are several options as far as food choices go. Max & Erma's, PF Chang's, Johnny Rocket's, Bravo (mmmm :D), etc. All within like 5 minutes of walking distance. Tickets will be handed out once everybody is signed in and cars are arranged.

Kevin and I will be dividing the entire group into smaller groups. They will take turns to go in and see the movie. We can't have everybody just go at random times, because we need people to keep the area secure and the vehicles safe.

The lottery is for the tickets. Unfortunately, the theater did not give us tickets enough for everyone. But we're not short that many, really. Only few people won't be receiving one.

We'll be using random.org's system for the lottery.
