PS3 launch date and prices...

Will launch November 17, 2006. Prices are $499 and $599 depending on size of Hard drive (20 gigs or 60).

sony plans to ship 2 million units for launch, an additional 2 million by end of 2006, and another 2 million for first quarter 2007 (in other words, hopefully no shortages like with xbox 360).

Microsoft was smart though, they did the shortage on purpose, just in case there were flaws, it wasn't a mass number of recalls. :shoe:

yeah this is old news they will also have a ps2 style controller.

but the fact that sony has delayed the launch of ps3 so long, there probably wont be as many problems. microsoft rushed the release of xbox 360 to get it out before christmas last year, probably wasn't really ready. and that article i posted was from yesterday, it was the first i had heard about an official launch date...

For what the system is and what it means for the industry, the price is very reasonable for launch. I mean, shit, when neo geo home system launched in the early 90's it was 600 back then, so this isnt an unreasonable amount.

This is the official release date that sony has set for all retailers. The date can be pushed back, however, the company would see major losses based on a pushback. Barring any large problem, this is the release date.

THey are going to be using a tilt sensitive version of the controller that is out now. So, the ps2 controller lives on, but now for all those that tilt the controller trying to help the car steer in the game, the controller tilt will indeed help.

I hope they make wireless controllers or atleast be able to use mine now none the less i will be reserving one

The controllers on the ps3 are all going to be bluetooth wireless.
