UPDATE: MAY 28th, 2007
Unfortunately Teckademics cannot get the rights to film the Great American Run. No one from Teckademics will be on the Great American Run. Sorry but I was looking forward to it but there's no reason for us to go if we can't use any of the footage.
This event is put on by Tim Porter - the guy who organized the 2003 Cannonball Run Europe that Dado and I took the Mondeo on, so we know it's gonna be a blast. We will be posting more info about this event in the coming months.

WORLD'S LARGEST CAR RALLY COMES TO THE UNITED STATES
Europe’s most outrageous road rally, Cannonball Run Europe, comes to the States; the Great American Run is set to be the largest coast-to-coast car rally in U.S. history
Following in the footsteps of seven massively successful European events, Cannonball Run World Events is bringing its unique driving experience back to it’s rightful place, the USA, taking place July 29 – Aug 4, 2007. The Great American Run, produced by Cannonball Run World Events Ltd, will unite car enthusiasts and racing fanatics from around the world in the largest moving car event across North America.
SO WHAT IS THE GREAT AMERICAN RUN?
A driving adventure, a physical and mental challenge, a meeting of man and machine. Expect the unexpected and be prepared for an event that you will remember forever as you take on an event unlike any other. It is not a race but the rules will tax your abilities to the limit.
It doesn’t matter what you drive, a Lamborghini or Lincoln, Ferrari or Ford, Mini or Maybach – it’s not the metal that counts but the spirit you bring with it. What other events pits an F40 against a Ford F150, millionaires against every man, and all with an equal chance of winning? Only The Great American Run.
Outrageous driving machines, the very best roads and an ‘up for it’ crowd – it will be the ‘time of your life’ and you have been warned.

do they even have a date set yet or is it just 2007 for right now?

Yeah, $5k a person isn't bad!
Dustin, any idea how many cars they already have? And how do they choose where you start? They say only 100 cars at each start point, but there isn't anything about it on the aplication form...?

i worked together the cash for the entry fee n a grand for gas/food n shit. i could really use the money for other shit. re-modeling the house. maybe buying a decent car. but ide honestly rather do this. just need a second person. perhaps with a car that would be good for the rally. its hard to say what ill have by this time next year. im 20 and have had 13 cars. i might end up with a tahoe but that would murder gas on the rally. ima try n catch a nice ride, and keep it around this time. but reguardless i need a second person :stickpoke

Man can't I just catch up with you guys when you run past St. Louis :(
4 starting points, new york/washington DC/miami/atlanta. not too bad. plus they have hella deals on airfair and vehicle shipping. oh n that 6 grand. ide actually say between $6,000 and $6,500 and thats for everything. entry fee + gas + lunch + munchies n smokes + airfair + 1/2 car shipping. its $5,000 a person, so i figure if each person has 1000-1500 for the rest, it should work out. the $5,000 covers hotel every night, dinner & breakfast, (limited number of drinks at dinner) all american run promo stuff, a $500,000 operator insurance policy and a $4,000,000 public liability policy, track fee's for track day, VIP party entrance, luggage transportation from hotel to hotel, check point pit crews, photographers, film crews, route maps so its really not that bad, specially cuz the hotels each night are nice as hell.
400 cars/ 800 people / 4 start points / 4 sperate routes to las vegas / one route to L.A est.2,900 miles total. not to mention some of the most bad ass cars made. im down for $ 6,500. and trust me im not at all a baller. i have to budget n make it work, but i will.

too be honest im not sure, but like i said, i turn 21 one month before the race, im sure as long as ur 21 during the race ( for drinking/party reasons ) they wont mind. but ill try n figure that out. oh i forgot one thing. you have to have $400 dollars to reserve your spot, its a 100 car limit per start point. but thats 400 per car, so 200 per person.

Wow you need to change companies, my insurance was never more than $575 a month when I had 3 tickets (that he was looking at) and these cars all with 500 deductable's
04 350Z -- full coverage
05 Xterra -- full coverage
97 Vette -- liability and comprehensive
93 RX-7 -- liability
89 Starion -- liability
68 Charger -- full coverage
And now that all i have is the Xterra and an 04 Civic both with full coverage its only $165 a month. My father in law (basically) is paying for the Charger's ins.

I got 18 points and two suspensions in 2.5 years. lol. june 5th 2007 ill be back to zero points. no i checked everywhere, even this company that is for people with bad records. they still wanted 500 a month for comprehensive. the last vehicle i drove in my name was a 97 blazer and PLPD was 300 a month.
Mandy
08-02-2006, 10:07 AM
((Cobbie)), most people don't have 6 cars in their name. You're probably not paying much because your insurance company has a multiple car discount.
ohyourTHATguy?
08-02-2006, 10:10 AM
also i see the 97 vette on ur list. I had a 96 last summer. and sold it cuz AAA canceled it and said if my parents even put me on as secondary they would cancel my parents policy. and no one else would insure me on it. i have no accidents all just 5 overs and two careless tickets for racing and burnouts. ive owned 13 cars in four years. the only two cars i never got a ticket in were that vette n a 96 Z-28 tripple black with an est.. $5,000 in the motor.
but next summer ill be back to zero n ill get somethin nice.

lets all brag, shall we. lol. you guys are also older than me. im 20, insurance rates drop at 21, then 23, then like 30. at least in michigan next summer ill be 21 (june 29th) and my points will be gone. then ill finance a toy and lease a daily, but until then its the mommyminivan and the broken 94 745IL i cant find parts for. poor car just sitting there all bandaged up, :(
2 FN LOW
08-02-2006, 10:32 AM
insurace rates dont really change to much until you are 25, you are considered a high risk until you are 25, atleast thats what ive always been told...Plus i dont use a regular insurance company like State Farm or anything, i use a company which deals with nothing but exotics and classics so i get better rates and higher coverage on the truck....My insurance rates with other companies are a lot higher cause i have multiple tickets and suspensions and what not, so they always seem to jack my rates up when i go through them...Last year my truck cost me 1,200 for the full 6 months through State Farm and now its only 135 for the whole 6 months...Major difference lol..

08-02-2006, 11:15 AM

beautiful, i may be inlove. lol. well see thats understandable. but i dont think they will insure a 2000 durango or jeep grand cherokee, and when i buy my next toy im sure it wont be of that caliber. insurance for that sorta thing is always cheap cuz they assume the thing hardly leaves your garage.
oh and props on conecting the hood n the fenders for the forward flip, but leaving the gap/ body line between the hood n the fenders. you didnt mold it all together, i love it.

yeah i was getting a pretty good discount with all those and I didnt think about it going WAY down when i turned 25. But I havent gotten caught as much lately and my insurance guy loves my family and we have had him for years so I am sure that helps. he likes to "not see" all the tickets I have. Hell in 01' I had 19 tickets on my record (insurance record, the 3yr thing)
And yeah I love his truck too, makes me want one

08-03-2006, 09:11 AM
aww. no way to make extra ? i had taken out a loan for this damn race, but then i told them i wasnt using the money till next year and they yelled at me so i spent it on a house im re-modeling. lol. but im half tempted to take another one out for the race, just not till next year. i can get a $7,000 loan for $150. a month. with no penalty for early pay off.

i dont mean work more. believe me. i work 50 hours a week. and for the past month i had community service (cuz ima bad boy )lol sat&sun for a total of 70 hours a week ( work&service ) PLUS ive been re-modeling a house i picked up. so all of july i worked 7 days a week 18 hours a day. i literaly worked myself sick like 3 times. i wouldnt wish more than 60 hours a week on ANY ONE. but im done with my community service, and that loan money helped cuz now im just paying people to finnish the house. lol. i honestly dont have the money for all this either. guess i havnt learned the value of a dollar yet. hm. no i mean like i know i end up with about 200 bucks in change every month in a half. and when i go to parties i opt to take the bottle returns. lol. its bummish but i put 20 inch rims on a cadillac i had last summer just from change n bottle returns. lol.

Won't you be getting some money from your tax return next year. That might get you closer to your goal. Also, if you can get 15 people to sign up for the run, you'll get a free entry or get paid for signing them up.

If we end up getting some Teck Cars leaving from DC, I will be on route and/or following along taking some pics and video, but I doubt we will make the full run. Most likely only the first day.

Saleen signs on as title sponsor of America’s Largest Road Rally
“The Great American Run”
~ Winner Takes Home a New 600 hp Saleen S281 “Extreme” ~
IRVINE, CALIF. – Saleen, Inc., manufacturer of the world’s fastest production car – the Saleen S7 – today announced it will be sponsoring the world’s largest road rally: “The Great American Run.” This event marks the state-side arrival of Europe’s most famous road rally taking place July 29 – August 4, 2007. To celebrate the inaugural U.S. rally, Saleen, Inc. has been commissioned by Cannonball Run World Events, Inc. (CRWE) to uniquely modify 25 stock Saleen S281 “Extreme” Mustangs with an additional 50 horsepower (aftermarket upgrade*), and identical black-on-black paint and graphics packages. CRWE has reserved one of the modified 600 horsepower “Extremes” for the winner of the event.
On July 29, 2007, 400 cars will start from four originating cities: Washington D.C., New York, Atlanta and Miami, to embark on a 3000 mile coast-to-coast free-for-all. Each night, entrants will enjoy luxury hotel accommodations at four star hotels and extravagant parties. Each of the cars will ultimately regroup in Las Vegas, where the remaining drivers will gather for the final leg of the rally to Los Angeles for the event’s award ceremony and track day at the historic Willow Springs Raceway.
“Saleen is proud to support an event of this magnitude that brings together all types of enthusiasts and all types of performance cars – foreign and domestic – in a fun and safe environment,” said Steve Saleen, founder of Saleen, Inc. “Our mission is not just about building the highest performance cars in the world, but also about building opportunities for car enthusiasts to share great experiences with each other. The Great American Run will be an experience enthusiasts will talk about for years to come.”
CRWE is well known for developing safe and fun events with a track record of seven successful rallies. In fact, the object of the rally is not who can reach the final destination first, but rather who can most closely attain an average speed of 61 mph over the 3000 mile route.
"Safety is paramount to this event, and in the previous five years and seven events held in Europe, we have never had a serious accident,” said Tim Porter, chief executive officer of Cannonball Run World Events. “We believe that this is due to the way we police our events with very strict rules. The object is to complete the course with an average speed at or below the national speed limit, rather than racing to be the first car to arrive."
25 “EXTREME” CARS FOR RALLY ENTRANTS
The 2007 Saleen S281 “Extreme” is quickly becoming known as the world’s fastest production Mustang. With 550 horsepower, 525 lb-ft of torque, Saleen’s patented Racecraft suspension, close-ratio six-speed transmission, 4:10 rear gearing with a Maxgrip differential, high-flow cooling system, 15” slotted and vented disc brake system, and numerous additional internal and external performance enhancements; the “Extreme” rivals all competitors in the high-

performance sports car world, including the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Ferrari 430, Porsche 911 Carrera and the Dodge Viper SRT-10.
For the “Great American Run,” CRWE will be commissioning Saleen, Inc. to modify 25 stock Saleen S281 “Extremes” and having them converted to 600 horsepower, with aftermarket options available soon through the Saleen SpeedLab®. CRWE has named this exclusive collection of cars "The Ultimate Bad Boy Edition" and will only make them available to race entrants.
The 550 horsepower Saleen S281 “Extreme” is currently available for purchase at “The Saleen Store” and Saleen Certified Dealers for those not participating in the event. Visit www.saleen.com (http://www.saleen.com) for further product and dealer information.

The Great American Run Announces $1 Million Bounty!
The Cannonball World Series has today announced that entrants signing up for July’s Great American Run will have the chance to walk away with the largest prize in road racing – a cool $1 million.
Already set to be one of the greatest car events of the decade, the stateside spectacular will see this year’s winner take home a brand new limited edition Saleen ‘Bad Boy’ Mustang and automatic entrance into next year’s rally. The one million dollar fund will be paid out to the winner of the 2008 epic.
“We still have a few spaces remaining for drivers and team wishing to take part in this summer’s road rally,” confirms Tim Porter, event organiser. “The victorious pairing will be granted admission to defend their crown next year and earn their shot at our mammoth prize fund.”
The largest ever cash reward offered for non-professional drivers, the Great American Run million dollar bounty is destined for the competitor successfully navigating more than three thousand miles of the American road network in the time closest to the benchmark set by the Cannonball World Series Events crew.
Based on the legendary Hollywood movie, the Great American Run follows the same format as the ultra-successful European Cannonball Run. With four starting cities, four hundred muscle cars and a seven day drive, entrants slug it out on a coast to coast cavalcade which takes them through some of the finest scenery in the United States.
“The Great American Run is set to follow in the wheel tracks of some of the most epic car rallies seen on European tarmac,” says Tim Porter. “Larger than life with muscle cars and show cars, entrepreneurs and life-long friends, it’s not the taking part that counts in the Great American Run, it’s the spirit with which you compete!”
The 2007 Great American Run begins on July 29 in Miami, FL; Atlanta, GA; Washington D.C. and New York City, NY. One hundred drivers will set off from each destination before converging in Las Vegas. Following an all-comers high-octane track day at Willow Springs Raceway, the cavalcade of cars will then travel together to Los Angeles for the event finale.

Unfortunately Teckademics cannot get the rights to film the Great American Run. No one from Teckademics will be on the Great American Run. Sorry but I was looking forward to it but there's no reason for us to go if we can't use any of the footage.
