My Webpage Design

Just wondering what you guys think of this layout...Made it in Photoshop CS2...I hate describing myself, so i wasnt sure about the text, its just a rough draft. Still needs some punctuation fixes and there might even be a spelling error or 2, but thats not the important part now..Just wondering about the basic design for my main page.

Very nice joey, I like it. I say maybe a black background though, the colors would go awesome with a black background, but the gray works well too.

Thanks...Ive been playing with the background colors, one of the first ones i did had a black background, but then i went with the gray to get that drop shadow on the header...Heres one i did before this one with the background black, and then the text/button area gray, with a white drop shadow behind the header...Wasnt sure if i was really feeling this setup though..

as you can see, it wasnt really finished...The text/button area isnt really centered that great.

pretty nice, i like the banner better than the other ones you have made. the only thing i don't really like is the buttons but it's clean overall

If i was better with Flash, i would put a really nice interactive interface navigation bar, but thats still a lil advanced for me, still tryin to learn that some more...

Thanks for the comments though, i took some of the advice and went with a somewhat simple banner instead, ill use something more creative for my splash page..

edit: wait, i know how to do the rollover images in Dreamweaver...If i make the same buttons, just with highlighted text, would i just load those in dreamweaver as a rollover image?

I like the black background better too. At first glance it was kinda hard for me to read the buttons. I dunno, maybe a different color for the button or the font or maybe it was the font. I can't figure out what's making it difficult for me. But Overall, I like it.

chances are its the drop shadow that is making them a lil hard to read...Atleast thats what it looks like to me that could be a problem to people.

i created this one the other day, before i went with this new layout...I couldnt get a 3D effect on the paper to well, so i dropped that design real quick...Thats where my text was going to go..

then i made this design a few weeks ago, i showed a few people here on the forum...This was going to be my main page, which was going to have a short description, links to visit my galleries in the form of photos, and like 2 buttons at the buttom for an About page and Contact page....This job wasnt finished though cause i thought of something else, the header never got added, theres typos like PHOTOGRAPHYS :lol:...Just thought id throw it up anyway...I think im still gonna use the photo idea for my gallery page though...

i think i have an even better idea, i used the design for something else awhile ago, i think i may try to work with the same concept pretty much, just in a different way, we'll see what happens...Watch for more later :woo:

squash my last idea, i was tryin to work with this, but havent come up with a way to make it flow with other things..Doesnt work with a black background though cause then you cant see the holes in the film and i dont wanna make them white on a blackground cause that looked stupid..Just used pics of my truck to test it out.

Actually, I do not know how much you know in terms of flash, if any, but if you make it a flash site you could make that work well. Only thing I do not like about that idea is the fact you use digital and it is like saying you use film. Although photography is photography. This might not be along the lines of what you want, because this seems to be more of a decoration compared to a gallery viewer, but make a roll of film with all the navigation on it and the role comes out, like above, and have the information of the navigation they are at for the gallery.

And that strip on the black background looks pretty cool, but the thing i dont like is how theres white "holes" in the film..It should have the effect like you can see through the holes, and having them white, makes it look like there just white dotes on the strip and not actually holes that you can see through...I dunno, just something i thought of..

Rob, i was actually thinking the samething you mentioned when i made the film strip..I was thinkin that it more or less deals with film, rather then digital. Like you said though, photography is photography, so i figured maybe it could work...I dunno yet though, just an idea...I tried to add a roll of film to the end of it, to give it the effect that the strip is coming out of the roll, but i wanst able to photoshop a roll that easily..I couldnt get it to have a 3D effect that yell...Im gonna play around with it more later..

And, i dont know much of anything about flash..My gallery will be a flash gallery, i have a program for that, the sameone Micah and you are using..Thats easy though cause as you know, most of that is setup already, you just have to add it on your page...But thats about all i can do with flash as of right now...Still need to read up and practice with it..

i also wanna mention that this site is also setup to display digital creations which i make in PS or other programs..So i was thinkin that the film strip could work, cause it goes with the digital creation part of the site, the digital photos have just been placed on it to make it more eye appealing

i know i came into this thread a little late and i'm too lazy to read the whole thing but i read the first page. Just wanted to say i like the general idea.

But the V looks like it has a C attached to it and the U looks like a Y. Otherwise i kida like the ideo you're going with in the letters, but you gotta do it without making them look like other letters.

The links on the left side should maybe get a different font, and you should put more space between the tables.

Then it will be perfect :)

Well basically everytime you roll over a button, everything else would minimize and more detail and options/info would show up. Like a CSS menu x 10

still working on it, but heres the process so far with the rollover buttons...i replaced the buttons i had before with the power button thats going to be on my splash page...The pages for the buttons arent online yet, so if you click them, expect an error message.

heres an idea im working on now...Since a lot of my digital creations are varies sizes im not going to put them in a flash gallery...Instead im going to split the digital creations into 3 galleries...Text Effects/Logos (which will also include forum sigs i have made)...Wallpapers...And Web Inferaces/Layouts...Then there will be thumbnails which you can click on to see a full size view...This idea right here is basically what i was thinkin about doing to split the 3 galleries up on the page...

cant view flash files on a jpeg image...Flash is overrated though, it gets used to much sometimes..

Im not using this layout, just making them to make them, show my ideas..
