OK, just got back from a drive.
I was on some side roads in OC.
After traffic was done and the air is cool.
Some guy in a yellow Vette does a fly by, we get to the light, I am behind him.
I give a loud rev, mini van to the right, so I could not lign up.
At green he guns it and I follow pass him and to piss him off cut him off.
We get to the next light, he's behind and revs on me.
Again someone on the right lane.
At green I gun it. The GT3 likes to hop a little then it grabs and launches.
He had O chance and was left far behind. It's was funny seeing that thing struggle to keep on me.
I see traffic so I slow, he does a fly by then cuts me off and gets in the left turn lane.
I end up next to him.
He rolls down his window and yells "That cars fucking fast" I say yours is not to bad either, not wanting to be a total dick. I ask what HP he has an he says 400, I say I have 380 and he kind of gave me a weird look.
He was a young guy and seemed cool enough. Not your average vette redneck.

No offense to your car, but he should have smoked you from a stop. I am almost guaranteeing the guy couldn't drive or he was bullshitting out the ass. How'd you know he had a LS6 anyways? I raced a GT3 in my almost bone stock Trans Am from a stop, I was on bald tires and spun and left tread for almost 150 feet and I only lost by 3 car lengths and he launched good.

And that is only at the crank, probably around 380 to the rear wheels since it is 405bhp. All C5's were the LS1, even the Z06 was just a LS1, just tuned differently. Only LS6 component is the intake manifold on certain years of it.

LS6 has different heads and cam aswell and they are probably in the 370 range in terms of HP

I smoked him, and I just smoked a TT Stage 3 supra, I did my crazyests launch to date, It smelled a little "Clutchy" so I am going to lay off the feathering. Had him by almost 2 cars at 80..till shut down and we pulled off.
Turns out he was running one bar.
I raced a new C6 very with the LS6 ( It was teh vert) and beat him on the freeway. From 90 we went to 150 and I had a car on him.

C5 Z06 doesnt usually put down more than 365-370 wheel stock, as typical of a lot of american cars saying a lot more than actual(i.e. dodge viper is like 450ish stock). I agree with ryan that you really need to take that sideways/twisties, but i really dont reccomend doing that on the street just cuz it adds another dimension and there are a lot of morons that can get in your way easier around turns

New C6 has the ls2. C6 z06 has the ls7.

I am also estimating. I know my Trans Am was 305bhp stock and usually dynos around 280whp. I had headerback exhaust and that usually dynos around 330whp with a 6 speed, but I was automatic, I was also running a hell of a lot faster than most. Noone on the F-Body forums believed my times to my modifications.

The new C6 Corvettes are the LS2, 405bhp, the new Z06 is the LS7 with 505bhp.

The LS6, I did not think came stock in any car that it was just an upgrade people did for aftermarket to call a LS6. The 2001 and 2002 F-Bodies had the LS6 intake manifold and I believe it was 1999-2005 Corvettes with the LS6.

What exactly is a stage 3 Supra considered? Because I am just trying to figure out whether Vaders car is just completely out or if this Corvette guy sucked at life. I raced a Supra, it was called in the Supra world BPU modified. I don't remember everything, but it was automatic. I raced it from a roll and it got my by a car or two, but it was a single turbo.

ONLY 3 cars? thats a lot dude

Yeah it is, but not when you left 150 feet of black marks when feathering it off the line. Especially when my car was $9,000 and his was $90,000. Not to mention my car was high mileage, 100,000 miles and some.

^ What kind of dyno are you talking about? i dynoed my car on a mustang dyno and it dynoed 290.2 and a C5 stock the same day did 290.7, i did and intake, it brought me to 308, then an exhaust and i was at 320whp. It all kinda depends on the dyno you go to.

RWD dynos are different than AWD dynos switched off on 2 wheels, i've seen discrepancys there. Also temperature in the dyno environment?

Hawk037
02-25-2006, 09:32 PM
its all about road force, a dynojet typically doesn't give you a road force dyno pull, meaning the wheels are just spinning as if nothing is there, no real world friction. THe dyno i had a school was road force set at 6 or 7% meaning it gives a more real world number. usually dyno gives you a higher number, but its not accurate to what your really putting down.

None of the cars we are talking about are AWD.

I think it was a Dyno Jet. Whatever Xotic Motorsports and Rapid Motorsports use, because those are the two places I mostly heard from.

Thats what Ive heard, although camaros/firebirds with the ls1 were rated at 300 or 305hp, and the c5 was rated at 350, they dynoed around the same, with the f bodies being underrated and the c5 being overrated.

You guys, MY car runs mid elevens stock, I think you should know that.
0-60 in 4.3 and these are average numbers.
With good conditions and great reactions/launches the numbers get better..way better.
So be carefull who you want to race, also if there are these things you guys don't know about called "turns" you guys might be in serious trouble.
My car weighs 3060 pounds. 381HP 300 lb/ft, shift at 8200 full power at 7500.
Top speed of 190. I had my car set ot "FACTORY CUP SETTINGS" this means it's even better on the road along with the cup spoiler and RS wing for mad tyte downforce.
The GT3 is the best "All around" car ever built even beating out the Ferrari Challenge 360's Those cars cost 250K.
Those are the cars I want to race.

Hey Vader, hate to break it to you, but not only did you get the stats on Vette engines completely wrong, but you dont even know your own GT3. #1, for "Cup" settings, you're going to need a lot of carbon fiber bodywork you dont have, and a bunch of suspension work, among other things. Not to mention the GT3 runs a 12.1 stock, with a BRUTALLY clutch killing perfect launch. Oh yeah, and euro pipes and a chip are NOT good for 420hp, maybe 395hp (+/- crank hp).

Dude my car was set and alligned by a race shop to cup settings.
It's just the drop and sways, not all the cup parts.
All I have is the cup spoiler, I have shaved off my brake cooling air dams under the car..lol
The estimates from the shop on the chip and full exhaust are around 415-420 to the crank. Call the shop and ask if you want too.GMG. Its not the Euro pipe its called something elese, but I did not need to get technical here about it.
I did get my estimates confused by the Vette becuase I don't know much about them, but the guy did say 400 so I assumed it was an LS6 and I thought the old body style was called a C5 and the new was C6.
Chevy needs some freaking chassis codes.
Launching the GT3 can get clutchy if you feather it, but people run 11's in stock GT3's with good runs on good tracks, the car is not ment for drag racing, but it's fun to do it sometimes.

To the guys will the DOms, I bet they are fast, but it's not all about driving in a straight line. That shit gets olde.
If I wanted a drag car I could of built a 100K street car and been the king of the drag racers. Thats the last thing I want to do.
I could of done a new ZO6 with a blower and been mad fast blowing Ferraris away listening ot OZZY..w00000t.
Fitis I would race you right now, but it seems we are 3000 miles away so whats your point?
