how does everyone add borders on there shots?

I am slowly teaching myself how to use Photoshop, I have to thank all of you off the bat because your def helpin me out alot...

So I want to add some borders to some shots, can someone post directions?

if i can recall correctly one way is to make a border is to open a new document that is a little bit bigger then your picture size.
i tend to use the expand feature though and fill in the space with black. ill post up how to later since im on the laptop.

i usually just Cntrl+A the picture then select stroke outside and set the pxl amount and bam ur done

you just need to add a feather...

i usually add 50(thats whats on my sig) pixels to the canvas size, and make the extension black
