I roll with a crew of some kids who have some pretty well tuned cars for the area. And as of recent they have been having me record most of the driving and racing that goes on for them when we drive. Currently I use a average video cam that I have normally mounted on the passenger seat inbetween the headrest and seat of my lancer. I saw the breif but interesting segment on the in cam system used in the making of mischeif invasion, but obviously being a senior in college dosen't leave me with much cash. Dose anyone know of cheap systems for recording, or just some basic tips for recording in car and such? Thanks alot.

I built a camera rig that mounts to the head rest poles in my car.
there is also a company called stickypod that makes a camers rig Redcoat has one.

Yeah, Thanks for the idea, the thought of fabricating something myself must have slipped my mind. Just halfway on topic, how often do you record? do you have any fotage you could share?

get yourself a 86 dollar suction cup mount. we use this for drifting shots, as well as an autoXcam, and believe me it hold on tight.

Lol I will, I just need to find a better crew to roll with. Someone really ridiculously fast. The scene here is kinda slow, to many cameros and mustanges... and if I show up at a race in my stock lancer I get so much shit.... At least I didnt have tires plus install my shit.

yeah, that suction mount works EXTREMELY well. We've used it for 5 or 6 Drifting events, including Hyper Fest, and it never loses grip or wobbles, rock solid image the whole time. THe AutoXCam came with a mini one of those too and it works just as well. As for inside shooting, try the backseat, you can move around much more and still be stapped in for high speed stuff. Windows and Sunroofs are also there for your enjoyment.
For mounted shots, try different angles other than just forward. Try driver view, looking at the driver, cluster view, put the suction cup on the window, and adjust it so that if ou put the window down you see the cluster, or whatever.. just be creative. Cameras are very easy to manipulate after lots of practice.
