There is a guy that drives one around here, he's got that same crazy kit and is always with his gay looking friend.....they think we should be like buddies because I guess our cars are...hmmm, kinda the same....but ok, not really, lol......he's a douche...

There are two I have seen driving around here. One is silver one is blue both have that gay body kit. Stupid little cars, its like a cross between a smart car and a beatle.

I like that kit. The silver with the yellow inside isn't doing much for me tho. Also, I don't like those wheels with it. That kit looks nice though with say a blue car with gunmetal wheels with a wide, polished lip. I'd never buy 1, but I'd drive that if someone said to take it off their hands.

why toyota went from the previous generation mr2s to that mr-s is beyond me its like going from a corvette to a cavalier there ugly and girly in my opinion i also hate that kit it makes an ugly car uglier

I hate the new MR-S. I had a 2nd gen mr2 turbo for a few years, much better car. Faster AND better looking!

thats beyond the point. The program with the mr-s was to go back to the roots of a real roadster. This car was made to handel well and go fast in the twisties not go fast in general. With the top down and the suspension tune'd right Sport compact Car got the MR-S to pull 1.01 g's around the skidpad with falken azenis and the TRD sportivo setup. With this set up not only were the lateral g's greater than a porsche 911 but the slalom time was a lot faster. For this car its all about being light and nimble. Don't forget that the previous mr2's weighed close to 3200 as small as it was. So before you go knocking around on toyotas intent, you should first know what their intent was.

In japan there is a company called techno speed or something along those lines and they put a 2zzge engine (celica GTS engine making 180jp) Slapped basic bolt ons (ie headers, intake and exhaust) with a tune suspension and widebody flairs with estimated power at 200 crank horsepower and it pretty much pulled away from 400 whp silvias on a track. Its all in the Best motoring video so its all proven. Don't think about the overall power or potential of power. Think about the power to weight ratio and balance. Thats what the mr-s has. :thx:

oh yah and if you want to compare. Lotus elise's use to have the type R engine but in order for it to make it into america they swapped out for the environmentally sounder 2zz engine making same hp. The power to weight ratio is almost to that of a corvette and it pulls 14 in the quartermile with only 180 crank hp. so think of the mr-s as a mini version

i like the mr-2 turbo from like the early 90s (92 or 93) they def. had a lot of potential in them and are aggressive looking cars

the new mr-s I think is a step in the totally wrong direction but what does it matter now they discontinued it along with the celica

That car looks hot with the Veilside Fortune body kit! Now all you need to do is turbo that sucker and it's a pretty sweet car. I've driven them and they aren't that bad. They're just expensive as hell to mod. That body kit is $11,000!

They are really well balanced cars. I've test-driven a completely stock one and was really impressed with its cornering speed. The entry is very fast and same with the exit. Plust the lightweight body helps it fly through the corners, and the suspension is very solid and responsive.

The old MR2 turbos were some of Toyotas finest work. The new ones look like shit and slow as fuck

JD
12-07-2004, 06:04 PM
yeah they were, but toyota seemed to have lost all of its supercar spirit now that the supras are out of production and the old mr2 are redesigned on a smaller scale.
