Camaro (auto) vs B16 Civic (manual)

First of all, are B16 hondas suposed to be quick, and espically if they are stick shift, cuz my friend has a 2 door civic b16 stick shift and i have a stock camaro, before i put my flowmasters on, i raced him twice and i beat him by like 2-3 cars, i'll admit he got me on take off by like half a car, but i ended up beaten him, wow and i thought b16's are faster, never mind.......

no.. b16's are just light weight and put out a decent ammount of power for what they are. i've seen fast ones and i've seen slow ones.. it's all up to what's done to it.

it's not that b16 civics are speed monsters right after they do the swap, it's that they're a whole lot quicker than a d15 or whatever other shitty motor they came with. Nice kill.

the adverage B16 runs faster than the adverage LO3(305 TBI in the RS)


i'll admit he got me on take off by like half a car, but i ended up beaten him I would have thought it would be the other way around given the v8 torque and the tow truck like top in of the TBI

There's only a 10 hp difference between the b16 and b18...

what is the b16 out of. i don't know much about honda's. I know that the H22 (prelude) motor is basically the "big block" of the honda world... until you get into the newer series motors like in the RSX and what-not. I know a lot of ppl turbo the ls motors, and those are pretty quick. I didnt think a honda with just a swap, no FI is really that fast. I raced a kid with a lightened civic hatch with a H22 swap and mods on top of that. i took him by 4-5 cars easy from a dig and kept on pulling the whole time. IMO FI is needed on a 4 cylinder to make good power.

B16s are weak becuse they have no torqe that is why i like b18s alot of torqe will kill a b16 without being vtec

i have a friend he has a z28 camaro with the 305 and he gave me a hell of a run he stayed right on my door hes stick shift and iam running a 14.5 right now so no complaints on camaros just the v6 one they suck hopefully ill get to run your camaro with my new motor if anything happens in pheonix

thats a big motor in a small car all i have is simple bolt ons and a head job i know my friend a mechanic for speed factory out in el paso built a 500 horsepower b18 in a integra and it ran high 11 and low 12s on low boost and thats 500 to the wheels

why do people think a camaro is so heavy its only about 3500lbs. my friend has a gutted camaro and its 2900lbs with an est. 600hp

the b16 came in the civic si and I think the del sol but Im not sure

depends on the model year, the newer cars, especialy the SS has a liteweight composite hood, and most of the panels with the exception of the rear quarters are plastic. Granted its still a heavy car, but with the right mods it will beat almost anything on the street.

Im pretty sure it gives it an OEM look, its just lighter...just don't hit anything with it or it will then look like shit and look ricer, but if it fits properly, it should look OEM..

hey ive seen some fast ass camaros a guy out here in el paso is running 13s with headers and flowmasters i think he has a power programer too and a ws6 trans am is running 11s with 4 11 gears headers whisper lid and a power programer and flows

the b17 is a really rare engine it only came in 92 - 93 integra gsr.parts are really hard to find but it has the longest stroke any honda engine has ever had i put some ctr pistons in it iam just waiting for a thicker head gasket to drop the compression i got it cuz i wanted something different if it runs like shit oh well ill just put my b18 back in ohh yeah engines look the same just look for the engine # then you will know

I seen a right hand drive integra type R run at the track once it was stock and ran a 14.4

the guy with the b17 runs 14.0-14.2 and it has most of the bolt on's.

B16 also came in 88-91 Civic and CRX SiR models, jap only, with a cable tranny. Or in 92-95 Civics with a hydraulic clutch tranny. Just thought I'd throw that in there cause someone asked what cars they come in. In America, they came in I believe it was the 4th or 5th gen Civic Si's and VTEC Del Sols. I believe the B18 came in Integra GSRs. And for as much as I thought I knew about Hondas, I learned somethin new today, never knew there was a B17. Thanks for the info. :thumbs:

stock integra type r's run low 15's to high 14's depending. a friend runs 14.4 or 14.2 with just bolt on's. stock they arent anything special but with the right mods can be quick.... but quick and fast are very differant.....




also a 383 would be nice or even a 427 ls1 :D. and have you gotten any runs at the track with your 305?
