School Bus Demolition 9/9/05

[DUSTIN WORLES]

A couple weeks ago, Dado placed first at a drift event at Kil-Kare Speedway in Xenia, Ohio. He was invited back the following week to do a drift demonstration during a school bus figure-8/demolition derby. I decided to tag along with Dado and Damian to witness this kind of demolition. It took us 8 hours to get to Rockville, MD. to Xenia. Long ass drive but we encountered no problems.

We met up Dado's friend Charlie. He owns a black CTS-V. We were allowed to play around on the circle track for a couple hours without any rules. It was pretty fun watching the Caddys go at it.

I walked around the track and came across the school buses. There were about 12 school buses lines up. Each bus had their windows taken out and there were different themes spray painted on them.

The school buses finally came out. They race around a figure-8 track first for about 20 laps. They are allowed to hit but the object of the race is too still be running at the end of the figure-8 race. The remaining running buses participate in the demolition! The craziest demo I have ever seen!

Next year we are coming back for the truck and trailer races. Basically about 20 trucks towing trailers do a race/demolition. Each trailer has something on the back of it. The last race had 8 boats on trailers. We missed it this year but I heard it was funny as hell.

school bus races are friggin sweet. i saw one at a dirt track up here called lernerville speedway. they were all taking turns too early and broadsiding eachother and flipping over it was awesome. a couple even caught fire. whooo! figure eight had to have been even better. :yumyum: M6 footage or is there some to sharrrre now?

That looks like some good old redneck fun. I too go to lernerville for the bus races. Kind of amusing. I cant help it.

Lernerville is awesome. A. there is a big hill along the backstretch with no walls protecting it. So when cars/buses come barrelling around the turn and loose control they fly over the hill. B. I can hear it from my house. BUS RACES RULE.

haha great pix, looks like fun. my first demo derby i went to, one of the cars caught fire pretty bad and the driver had to bail (luckily uninjured). it was fun tho, watching cars smach the crap out of each either. couldn't imagine how it'd be with buses....
