WOODWARD 2005

[DUSTIN WORLES]

Here are video stills and some pics from our 2005 Woodward Dream Cruise adventure. I left Maryland on Weds. night, picked up James in Lancaster and crashed at Jonathan's house in Pottstown, Pa. My Mazda and Jonathan's NSX was still apart so we drove up to Woodward in Jonathan's new Yukon Denali. Dado had a drift event in Indiana so he couldn't make it. We meet Marks and Mandy Thursday morning on the PA turnpike. We drove for about 5 hours to my new favorite amusement park - Cedar Point. This place is so badass! There are so many rollercoasters! We meet up with Audrey and her brother.

Friday we meet up with Roger and his brother at their big-ass house. Holy crap this was the biggest house that I have ever been too. 30,000+ square feet! They had a nice collection of automobiles. One of my favorites was the BMW 850 twin turbo. Only had 32,000 miles on it. I've always loved these cars.

Another interesting car that they had was an old Corvette powered coupe. I know nothing about these types of cars. Roger said that you must own a classic like this when you live in Detroit.

Daniel and Jeff show up late as shit on Friday night. They brought up Jeff's beater Corolla. Daniel's MR2 has clutch problems and Jeff's Skyline hasn't been properly tuned. We are now use to the fact that all our cars are broke. Roger's parents had a slamming end-of-summer party at the mansion. Complete with open bars and a fashion show. I got wasted as usual. I got thrown in the pool at least 5 times.

Saturday was the big day. It was the official cruise day. Jonathan and Jeff slept in while Daniel, James and I took out the Corolla. Let me tell you something, nothing in more embarrassing then showing up to a hotrod cruise in a '99 Corolla! Got some great video of tons of crazy cars. I really wish we had our cars at the time. It did rain off and on most of the morning but then it got really sunny.

After the sky finally cleared up, we decided to do some high speed runs on 696. I really wanted to see Roger's dad's new 430 tearing it up with the Lambos.

Jonathan has a little too much and Daniel drives us back to the hotel in the Denali. Jonathan thought it would be funny for Daniel to run over some huge construction barriers. Daniel didn't want to hurt the new truck but Jonathan insisted. We pretty much dented the whole side of the truck and lose a headlight.

This year's cruise was freaking awesome. It only rained for a short time. We actually parked and walked around the side streets of Woodward. There were hundreds of classic cars that lined the streets! We never saw that last year. I highly recommend coming out to this event next year.

We did come to the Redline meet on Friday but none of the Redline guys were there. We only stayed for 10mins. We had a party to attend to and we stopped by the meet on the way to the party. There was really no one there. People were busy cruising Woodward.
