View Full Version : Finally got my wish: Ran my buddie's Corvette

So, I finally was able to run my friend's modded 2000 C5 Corvette before he sells it. Mods: Donaldson intake, BBK throttle body, Borla X-pipe, Borla exhaust, short shifter, suspension, Z-06 wheels, Michelin tires. He's probably somewhere around 340 wheel horsepower.

We went out onto the highway and did some pulls from 50mph. Ran my 240 at 13.5 psi (motor still un-tuned). I knew I would get my ass kicked but I wanted to race him before he sells it.

We were even through second and halfway through third and then he started to pull on me hard! :lol: Probably put 5 cars on me. But, man, was it fun. I got video to. I just need to get it on my friend's comp. and then find a host.

sounds like a good run, but ya kno you might have people posting about how there isnt enough proof bla bla bla. but good run its always in good fun. what turbo do you have on your 240?

I've got a GT28S turbo. Not too big, but it's really responsive. I can run close to 300hp at 18psi, but I don't have it turned up that high because my motor is still un-tuned. But, I would get my ass kicked either way. Too bad I won't get a chance to run him when my motor is tuned. It might be a little closer. But he'll have a Viper by then. :D

well, when he has his viper, and ur ZX is done, will you guys be runnin similar numbers, or is he gonna be gettin some big mods such as forced induction?

He wants to supercharge the Viper. He's pretty power-crazed. Before the 'Vette, he had a Supra twin turbo that was modded a bit. But, if everything goes well with the 300, it could be close. But I also hope to have my 240 near 450hp next summer.

well, a blown viper can get you near 700 horse. what numbers are you lookin at with the ZX?

We're trying to cram a RB26DETT in there. :lol: It'd be easier to toss it into my 240 though.

yeah real easy, a buddy of mine has a 240 with a rb26. its fast as fuck

The GT28RS (Disco potatoe turbo) has about enough to make 350 hp at the crank. You might have to up it a bit (turbo) to something like the GT2871R for more than that. It isn't as responsive as the GT28RS but it is still better than a T3/T4.

Next year, I'm going to get the HKS GT3037S for my 240 which will have a built motor hopefully. That should be good for close to 500hp.
